Oh gosh why do you continue writing your username after your post 😱
Plus taxes and fees. If you live in IL like I do, taxes will be like $8 extra per month. There is always a $5 e911 fee plus other bogus fees.
mint is $240 for a yr on their 1 yr/8gb plan. They also have buy 3 months get 3 months free promotion for New comers right now

How were you able to get hold of a customer service person with Prepaid? Whenever I click the "chat now" icon from the prepaid site, I always get someone with the postpaid department. Then they give me a phone number to call, and it's all automated - can't get a real person unless you have an account with them already.
Dial (800) 901-9878 and wait for more options and then say CustomerService.
You no need to have a ATT number here.

you can use gift card to avoid taxes. Buy gift card from target or other similar site, get discounted price + CC cashback. At&T doesn't charge taxes when using prepaid balance and auto pay discount still applies even though amount is paid via balance.
See... this guy gets it.

And by 'it', I'm talking about making this 'somewhat slick deal' into a 'slick deal' via the gift card purchase using a cashback portal while using a credit card that also earns cashback.

Sure, there are some hoops that require being jumped through. But for most cheap bastages (such as myself), this is pretty much a foregone expectation.

Repped you (for your deal mastery/craftiness), as well as the OP (for the deal). Thanks!

Are you sure this could be paid via prepay? Comment a couple posts back said he didn't have option to use gift card to pay for this deal

Woops. I didn't read that other guy's comment. I guess it's not as slick as it could've been. : (

I definitely didn't read far enough into the thread (tough to do when there are 400+ comments already in a thread). Anyway, thanks for the clarification! Repped.

I have a prepaid Straight Talk line (AT&T service) and when I entered that number during the ordering process, it says that number is not eligible. How can I port that number to this plan? People here say the H2O line also cannot be ported, so that option is gone. Any other way to do this so that I can keep my old number?

Buy a tracfone sim from amazon with the $25 promo card. Port and sign up for $15 plan on tmobile. Get $25 amazon card then port to att.

Sorry buddy, your taxes are similar to California. AT&T will bill you around $9 a month in taxes and fees in Denver, CO. Don't come crying to the Slickdeals threads when your first month elapses and you'll discover the truth. Read my other replies to others for the full details.

Monthly tax and fee breakdown...
https://www.att.com/cell-phone-se...stid=20088

Monthly:
State COLORADO Federal Universal Service Fund: 18.8%
State Universal Service Fund: 2.60%
Regulatory Cost Recovery Charge: $1.25
Administrative Fee: $1.99
Other AT&T Surcharges: $0.35
Dude, no offense, but you're way off in the weeds on this one. Your tax/fee portal is for postpaid; this deal is for prepaid. How am I positive you're wrong? First, the portal shows the following for Florida:

State FLORIDA Federal Universal Service Fund: 24.4%
State Universal Service Fund: $0.00
Regulatory Cost Recovery Charge: $1.25-$1.50
Administrative Fee: $1.99
Other AT&T Surcharges: $0.31

Second, this is flat out incorrect for AT&T Prepaid in Florida. I currently have the 8GB plan on AT&T Prepaid in Florida and, for the few times AT&T has charged me for a fill, I have ONLY paid:

1) Sales tax on the amount of the refill, and
2) A $0.40 e911 fee, regardless of the amount of the refill

Based on this info, the cart total of $326.74 I was handed when I navigated as a test to checkout calculates out exactly based on these two things:

Base plan = $300.00
Sales tax @ 7% = $ 21.00
e911 fee = $ 0.40
SIM card = $ 4.99
Sales tax on SIM card = $ 0.35
Total: $326.74

What will probably happen is that AT&T Prepaid will fund your account with $321.00 ($300.00 plan + $21.00 sales tax) and deduct $26.75 each month. The e911 fee doesn't need to be paid monthly because there is no monthly sale of refills to you.

Edit: Wait a minute, you said in Post #292 that you work for AT&T - and don't know the difference between prepaid and postpaid taxes and fees?

Here's hoping you are the correct one here. We will see soon enough what they do. And fortunately the deal will still be available once we've confirmed how AT&T is charging for this plan.

This is not true. ATT customer service just confirmed me I'm qualified for this deal. H2O also confirmed that I'm their loyal customer.
Paging mwins... How did the port out work out being a loyal customer and whatnot

Sales tax and telecom taxes are different. Prepaid/postpaid telecom taxes are the same so if it showed you 24.4% for Florida then you will pay 24.4% no matter what. I'm just telling you the facts but you seem to be bitterly angry for some reason and needlessly attacking me for your miserable financial decisions in life. Making the claim that the link I posted is for postpaid only just shows your lack of knowledge in the matter. Please do show us where the taxes are any different for prepaid. In the meantime, read this: https://www.att.com/esupport/arti...gsi=uqu4k3.
