Microcenter has the 2018 Macbook Air new in box for $820/$920 for the 128/256 GB devices. This is a $30/$80 drop from what they were for the last week. The 2019 models are $50/$200 more, but from everything I've read the 2018 is a better machine. The only upgrade worth noting on the 2019 is the keyboard for reliability, but the 4-year warranty on the keyboard will upgrade you to the 2019 version if you have a failure.

Stock varies by store.

Rather than just link them all (separate listings for each color with varying availability) I'll link the search:

https://www.microcenter.com/searc...SortNow=Go

2018 128 GB - $819.99
2018 256 GB - $919.99
2019 128 GB - $869.99
2019 256 GB - $1069.99 (this one is not slick)
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

That's four words.
The soldered hard drives are why Apple can charge $200 for a 128gb upgrade when 1TB nvme drives are already under $100.
I'm a web dev who's been nursing his 2012 Macbook Air until Apple sorts out the keyboard fiasco. I've been waiting 3 years so far.
Some things to note for anyone else looking at getting a new Macbook:

Looks like Apple are shifting to a scissor keyboard system in the next year instead of butterfly so you have the choice between the 2018 models (butterfly keyboard V3), 2019 models (butterfly keyboard V4), or waiting and beta testing the new scissor keyboards. None of those are great options.
2018 (and 2019's I think) Macbook Airs have their SSD built in to the main logic board so hard drive failure would push the laptop past economic repair.

Despite the issues I'm still tempted by the deal. Thanks for posting.

I picked up a 2018 128gb when they were $799 a few weeks ago.
To my knowledge the upside to the 2018 model is a faster SSD and marginally larger battery. 2019 has the updated keyboard as well as true-tone display.

Does the new model have a different keyboard? Or are the 2019 and 2018 keyboards the same?
