C8 often comes down to $1000 so it is only $300 more if you value GC at face value. I got the C8 for $914 and would have jumped on this if I didnt buy it.

No, not even close. Maybe a $100 max
From what I've heard, b8 and above are all the same panel, although more recent models have better chips that allow more preprocessing. I doubt it makes a difference unless you have two models side-by-side running a carefully selected pattern in sync.
