This seems suitable for an outdoor storage box but the lid top keeps to hold water

Even with the appropriate lid, water will still get inside due to condensation. You need to put a tarp over it.

Other sizes on sale also. I'm getting 27 gallon 5 @ $7.63 each. These are more manageable to move around.

Were those the 55 gal size? I normally only see the ~26 gal size at my costco. These 55 are huge!

Put any of them on a furniture roller, fill it with 230-460lbs of water, add a box fan and a few components, and you've got yourself an evaporative cooler for the summer, that can easily cool 500 sq feet .

Sorta, I use them for some of my halloween decorations- zombies, mummies, etc, that are too long to fit into the usual 27 gallon.

I also picked one recently which was on rebate for $6ish and I am pretty confident it is 55 gallon! Will confirm in the evening.
