It is unusual for a model that has only been out a year to suddenly drop that far.
Unusual until you read the reviews on head-fi and elsewhere. These were advertised as having a very linear sound suitable for mixing. The owners all say it has muddy bloated bass the overwhelms everything.
Sennheiser seems to do its best with open back phones. Still, I will thumbs up because the success or the original Beats line proves there is an audience for anything, and the price is good.
