It's a friggin' Realtek 8811 USB non-programmable chip in a plastic case with a USB plug on one side and an antenna jack on the other. If you think the drivers EDUP supply are tainted (which they aren't I checked) download the drivers directly from Realtek.

These things have embedded software/malware. If you have a antivirus software it will pick it up.
Most of these clones have key stroke loggers as well. And ET phones home.

One of the tell tale signs is they get extremely hot and will burn your USB port.

Just awful products. Stay away.

These are fine for things like setting up a pi that doesn't have wifi or on a network that runs piholes where you can just completely block that sort of thing.

I plan to use these on a Windows PC. Is there a way I can use these safely or can you give me more info?

This is good to know— do you have a link where we can read up on this, and/or can you elaborate on what you mean by "these things"?

Wait... You mean shady shill listings legitimate items, that normally sell for $1-$2.50 on ebay, aren't to be trusted?

But... but... it's such a reputable brand...

At such an amazing price vs ebay, it's totally worth China having access to every password I've ever used reading my Leave It To Beaver fan fiction novels...

But seriously, I think its hilarious that people pay money to get hacked these days.
It's why it's a long running joke at hacker conventions, to give out free USB devices, like fans. It started when free USB fans were given out, and some idiots plugged them into their computers to charge.

Hell, they've even done this with simple USB cords, physically embedding the malware hardware into the USB-A connector at the end...
