My opinion is that unless you know for sure that you need the larger capacity a 6 quart will be much more pleasurable to use day in and day out.
Also, I much prefer the ultra over the duo simply because the pressure relief valve resets itself automatically each time the lid is removed. This is not a big deal until you forget to reset the pressure relief valve

Not that I've experienced. I cook all sized batches and things in my 8qt.

It's up to the individual to evaluate their needs and make the purchase accordingly.
Like you buy a small car or buy a truck or van. And the alternative of course is to buy the small car and rent truck/van when you need it. Similar thing can be done with pressure cooking, can borrow it from your relative that have the 8qt.
