Do any of the carbons come with discrete graphics? Intel's IGP is also such a disappointment.

Anyone know how to check if a store has it in stock? I want to see how it feels, looking for an even better version of T470. Made a mistake of ordering online once, and regretted. My current one is a Lenovo Flex from Costco, hate the keyboard, the constant noise the fan makes, and the heat, among other things. Spec is great, but could not tell me those things. Also, a comment on the Costco site indicated this is a Gen 7, not Gen 8 as the OP stated.

Use Costco live chat to check if a store has it in stock or not.

I think you misread it. OP indicated 8th gen i7 processor but laptop.

Thanks OP! I was going to buy this laptop from Costco today but now i'll wait for 10th gen processors. I hope Lenovo announce the release date in tomorrow's event.

The reddit post with the QC issues made me hold off on upgrading from a Gen 4 X1C. I would wait too for 10th Gen based on battery life. Costco is the way to go as lenovo exchanges apparently take forever vs going back a few times to Costco.

IMHO, you should consider the performance impact to Intel processors of all the major vulnerabilities like Zombieload, Meltdown, Spectre, etc. AMDs weren't impacted by Zombieload and had less impact on the other vulnerabilities. I think new AMD chips blow away Intel in performance and cost especially after taking into account the performance impacts of addressing the vulnerabilities. What do you guys think?

We haven't seen anything really from the laptop lineup in terms of performance, but judging by the desktop, I'd expect the laptops to fully blow away intel chips. Not to mention the slightly better performing AMD APUs would be a nice boost from intel's IGP.

But again, we haven't seen or heard much about their mobile lineup

I wouldn't get x1 based on what I see from others who used earlier ones, get T or W series I guess T is best since it's still light. Unless they stopped making those. X feels very fragile and doesn't have great battery life. Again my perception might be skewed due to many people in our office with x1s not too happy and envy T users. They definitely look slick and they are super portable.
So long story short, if you plan to travel a lot this must be great but of you will be in office or stationary, I'd grab something more durable.

I'd love to pick one of these up, but I can't bring myself to buy one when my 3rd Generation X1 Carbon still runs as well as i did the day I bought it. Close to 5 years old, it's been all over the world multiple times, and it has a grand total of 1 scratch on it. It's rock solid. I had a 9 hour webex last week, and still had 50% battery left when it was over. I can't speak for later generations, but this one seems like it will last forever.

If this had a vega 8 or anything outside the crappy 620 I would be sold.

When will Costco start to carry the 10th Gen i7 units? Maybe before Thanksgiving?
