I got the Pit Boss Austin XL last month from Walmart for $298 after talking to the department manager. There were several grills marked at 40% off so he offered me 40% off the Austin XL. I don't think I could have loaded this thing into my car faster. Many of these models are listed below the prices shown above in my area. Might be worth seeing if you can get a better price in store by talking to a manager.
I shoulda bought when Lowes had the Pitboss for $200 earlier this year. My Master-built electric smoker just started messing up last month where it doesn't burn the chips enough to produce smoke anymore. Gonna hold off in hopes the price goes lower.

Get one of these. Also, what I do is barely open the side chip feeder to let a little airflow.
They had a diff version of that on clearance but I totally forgot to grab one. Thankfully I bought the warranty which expires in Nov. If they don't honor it then I'm gonna amaze it up. Just worried the element will totally go out next
Thanks for the tip on keeping the side barely open. I saw some people drill holes in it to allow for airflow.
This is prob the wrong place for this, but...
Are pellet smokers/grills any healthier than charcoal or gas?
I even smoke my beans in a dutch oven in my smoker. Here is a good article[slate.com] about PAH's and side note on aflatoxins in corn. I also cook my dogs' chicken in the same smoker via dutch ovens. Hope this helps.

Interesting. So the Dutch oven prevents the PAHs? Is the flavor greatly affected?

Pitboss makes a great product, but the company and after purchase support is complete garbage. So dont ever count on their warranty service and customer support to be useful, their normal response time is minimum 5 business days!
I have the pitboss pellet smoker and it one of the best grills I ever used.
