Ring Video Doorbell lets you watch over your home and answer the door from your smartphone, tablet and PC. It sends you instant mobile alerts when people press your Doorbell or trigger the built-in motion sensors. And when you answer the alert, you can see, hear and speak to people on your property from anywhere. Ring Video Doorbell comes with everything you need to get it set up in just minutes. It can be powered by its internal rechargeable battery, or you can connect it to existing doorbell wiring for non-stop power. It also comes with a free 30-day trial of Ring Video Recording, so you can review, save and share all your Ring videos at anytime, anywhere.

I have watched a lot of CSI, just enhance the photo... LMAO
pay the extra $50 bucks or so and get the Ring 2, we have this model and its ok but he resolution is not the best being 720p, you can make out people in front of the camera maybe within 3-5 feet, the edges are very blurry and very fisheye with noticeable fringing and the black ring of the fish eye on the edges. we recently got the Ring 2 for my in-laws and the video is alot clearer being FHD, the image is cropped better so there isnt as much black from the fisheye lens (i.e. Ring 1 the left and right are fully black for 5-10% of the image, Ring 2 left and right are all image).

Both use 2.4 GHz 802.11 b/g/n, but the Ring 2 feels like it comes up faster when i go to live view. unscientific testing right now the Ring 1 took about 5-6 seconds, the Ring 2 took about 3 seconds to come up. that may not seem like alot but i never have pulled up my Ring 1 and had a delivery person still at my door, they are usually walking away by the time it comes up.

also the battery part seems like a pain but i like the option of having that removable battery in the Ring 2, its allowed my in laws to have a ring on their side gate, completely wireless, all i have to do i go there every two weeks or so and just swap batteries with a fresh one.
Explains why police are starting to give them away for free

My sister had one of these and it's 720p resolution. It's good for people at the door, but the one time you want to zoom in and read a license plate at the curb or their name tag etc, 720p just isn't good enough.

I'm going to guess that they are saving on shipping by taking it out of the package. For $5 more you can get it in the full packaging.

Fyi lots of places are getting free ring door cam from Amazon so the police can spy on everyone. If you have no problem with the spying, you can see if your local police department offers it.
