I'm starting a new thread since the existing one is for new line or port in.

I called Xfinity mobile customer care to ask if they are offering any promotion to existing customers to upgrade to latest iPhone 11 phones and I was informed, in no uncertain terms , that I'm eligible for $250 Visa card if I were to buy a new iPhone 11 (Max or otherwise). He even read some written promotion to confirm when I told him I was suspicious of that offer. I even pointed out their website states that a new line or a port in is required... but I was informed that is not required.

The only requirement is I will have to buy the phone at a local Xfinity store.

Recommended: Place your order for the new iPhones on or after September 20th, 2019 *IN STORE ONLY*

Try your luck at your local store. YMMV.

While XM has been great compared to the internet or cable side, i would be careful here. What happens if they say you qualify now but when time comes to ship the visa card, they say you don't? For folks who got $250 off, was that instant discount or any document to show that you qualify?

I just left the store unsuccessful. I talked to several different people showing the screenshot of the online support chat that confirmed I qualify for the $250 gift card. Everybody at the store told me it doesn't work like that. I have to activate a new line. One of the workers at the store "went to the back to talk to his manager" and came back and told me that the manager said I have to activate a new line to qualify. I asked if there was a way to check for all current promotions and he looked at his computer and confirmed the only promotion is to activate a new line. I just wanted to share my information to help everybody else. Here is my screenshot of my online support chat session. https://imgur.com/OC8CTBA
Your chat is showing Galaxy not iPhone 11

I asked the online chat if the Galaxy will qualify because I wanted to see if it was just a special iPhone 11 pre-order discount or any gift card qualifying phone. The chat said the Galaxy S10 would work which turned out to be incorrect at the store. To clarify, I wasn't able to buy the iPhone on pre-order or any other phone that should have qualified for the gift card.

Apparently corporate isn't communicating properly with their stores or they aren't communicating with their customers. I have been told 3 times now that existing customers are eligible without them saying anything about adding a line. It's not an upgrade if you are activating a new line and buying a phone. You already have a line. I made that perfectly clear to the customer service rep I chatted with and spoke to. They told me if I have any trouble to call them from the store and they can refer them to the proper documentation spelling out the offer. We need to get to the bottom of this. For me it's the difference of 2 phones and $500. If not, I'm not upgrading.

Also, the "Switch providers" offer is good until 10/27. The existing customer offer is only good until 12/30. So they are two different offers.

This is straight from my latest support chat...

$250 Visa Prepaid Card with In-Store iPhone and Samsung Upgrades

9:31:10 PM
Xfinity Mobile customers can qualify for a $250 Visa Prepaid Card for upgrading an existing line to a new iPhone or Samsung device in any Xfinity Store with available inventory. Upgrades will be completed via our New Device Existing Line (NDEL) or Early Upgrade programs. Online and telesales upgrades do not qualify. The Samsung Galaxy A50 is excluded from this promotion.

9:31:38 PM
Start Date: 08/23/2019
End Date: 09/30/2019
Pre-orders and back-orders qualify
Stackable with other current Visa Prepaid Card promotions

Official name of the offer is: $250 Visa Prepaid Card with In-Store iPhone and Samsung Upgrades

If you inform the store of this, they should be able to look it up. I'm headed there later this week. I'll have lots of ammo to support this assertion.

Here is another interesting part of the conversation.

9:36:41 PM Xfinity: The only thing that you might have issue with it would be if the store carries the phone in question. This promotion is susceptible to eligibility. Any Phone qualifies but it depends if the store has those device on stock or not.
9:37:17 PM Me : The details of the promotion you listed say "Pre-orders and back-orders qualify"
9:37:28 PM Me: Which would mean I can preorder the iphone11 and qualify.
9:39:03 PM Xfinity : That would be correct, but you will need to place the order on the store to qualify for it.
9:39:50 PM Xfinity : Also you would need to pay off your device completely to be able to place the order for the new Iphone 11.

I'll never trust xfinity mobile support. Just Google scam xfinity forum, you will see what I'm talking about.

So I also found out today in store that this promotion is also for existing customers upgrading.

I've read through the entire thread and have not been able to find if upgrading is necessary , or if we can pay off a current phone, sell it for more elsewhere, and still get the $250 credit from Xfinity.

Also, did we get clarification on whether or not the 11s are eligible for this?

Interestingly, I called another store and they had no idea what I was talking about. I did see on the online documentation that it is at participating stores only, so it may not be company-wide.

Here is what I have found so far:

1. Yes, this is a legitimate offer but the eligibility details are poorly communicated by Xfinity to its stores

2. Went to a local store and my promo question was immediately dismissed both by the store rep and the store manager (who proudly pointed out that she has been working company for the past 8 years and was aware of "every" promotion). When I showed her the FAQ section on the website, she changed her tune and upon further insistence that she check with other local stores, she came back with a "code" and agreed to place my order. She also magically found an internal communication about the said offer.

3. Once they realized it is indeed a legit promotion, they did caution me to not place the order until the 20th (when the iPhone is scheduled to be stocked) citing the language of the promotion. This is where things get a bit hairy... some are saying it's good for preorders while others are more cautious of placing the order before the phones are stocked.

4. I think the best approach is wait for few more days and place the order in store on the 20th. I was also given an option to turn in my phone for an upgrade or keep the phone and pay for a new phone on an existing line. Both options are good for $250 prepaid visa.

5. Xfinity store reps are astonishingly incompetent and ill-informed. And unfortunately one has to go to a local store to get this promo.

You will be required to pay off the remaining balance on your existing phone if you plan on keeping it in addition to buying a new one to replace it. (On the existing line). If you choose not to keep it and wish to turn it in for a new phone, I think you're required to have paid at least 50% of its value and they will probably prorate the price of your new phone.

Interesting that the original phone would have to be paid off.

if you have paid more than 50% of your phone, unfortunately they do not prorate the new one. They simply cancel any remaining payments on the original phone.

I stand corrected.
