Arc'teryx and rain jackets?

940 257 October 21, 2019 at 01:39 PM
I was looking to buy a new rain jacket to the weather here ( Seattle area) and my friend told me to pay the premium for an Arc'teryx jacket. Does anyone here have one? Is it overkill? What would you get instead?

I mean...yikes. It's a rain coat. I think you reach a certain level with that kind of thing. And this coming from someone who lives in hurricane prone areas where the rain comes up from the ground laugh out loud

For people grown here not flown here, we've always been into wearing shorts and hoodies year round. Popular jacket brands here are North Face, Columbia, Patagonia. Wear what makes you comfortable. hug

Are you used to warm or cold climates? Think layering or a 3-in-1 systems jacket so you can adjust as needed. We've been getting below 20 degrees a lot the past few years. Snowfall typically occurs in February.

Arc'teryx is super nice, but a more high end brand. If I lived somewhere where it rained often, I'd def be looking at them.

It's a Gore-tex jacket. The Gore-tex laminate is the waterproof part.

Can you buy a Gore-tex rain jacket cheaper?

Yes.

We actually don't get that much rain. Peace I just bought my first new winter coat in 15 years. Walmart. Very happy with it.
