if you are excited about Alexa/Google Assistant being able to open door, be aware that if you have a smart speaker (echo/dot/google home/mini) someone could shout outside your home to open the garage door unless you specifically name your door.

I know for Google at least, it's voice specific. If company comes over and tries to use my google home it won't verify their voice or let them do anything unless they're added to the family
---> there are specific commands which require access to your account (contacts, calendar etc) and are tied to voice fingerprint (dialing some numbers) and some which are not (asking about weather).

This works okay. The app often doesn't recognize the garage door is open and when it does that you can't close it since the app thinks it's still closed. The sensors are working but it's just something with the app it seems. It's close to being a five star device.
Mine worked great after I used a much longer wire (than what came in the box) and made sure the Meross box was at least 3 feet away from the garage door opener box.
I zip-tied it to the brace on the ceiling holding the garage door control box. (Also away from where the power cord plugs in to the outlet)

And for where to place the sensor, don't put it on the garage door like it says in the instructions.
Instead, do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gcyJC_WkRk
Go to 6:21 in the video.
Install the sensor on the rail that opens/closes the garage door.
Much simpler!
yes, isolated incident. I don't see how that's even possible anyway. All this does is complete the circuit. It doesn't output any kind of voltage

I bought this back in May for $38. Setup was easy and everything (notifications, remote control, and Google integration) has been working well.

Does anybody have an explanation as to how the guy on one of the Amazon reviews from October 3, 2019 fried his Craftsman garage door opener? Is it because he wired it wrong?

On the compatibility list it says that a accessory is needed for my opener. Any idea what that is?

He probably shorted wrong two wires.

>>Or you can simply use pliers to short the wall button terminals of the opener. If the garage door opens or closes, it works with MSG100.

Can we just plice and tap on door opener button instead of connecting at the opener itself?

anywhere between the button and opener would work. You'll need to splice this in wherever's convenient.

Thanks, it looks cheap enough that it could be worth a try.

Since it is Alexa compatible can we assume it would work with Amazon Key?

If you connect with google assistant, and ask it to open the garage door, will it work?

Just a word of caution that anything that requires WiFi is likely at the mercy of the manufacturer and them staying in business. This company has already been around since 2016. Buyer beware!
I'm not sure you can make this assumption. It depends on whether functionality relies on their servers. Many of these simple controllers do not rely on cloud platforms.
