According to a tweet and graphic from Tracfone brand expert @KingOfTechDeals, mobile hotspot usage will officially be allowed on all Total Wireless plans containing data starting on November 4, 2019.
Good! Maybe my wife can use it on her iPhone (it's always worked on my Moto G7).
Have been long-time Tracfone user because I did not use a lot of minutes. Recently bought unlocked iPhone and wanted unlimited minutes, and used Verizon prepaid. At least the Apple-Apple hotspot works. Their latest plan has been reduced to $30/month. That's only for 500GB, but I can bump up to higher rates if I am traveling (I mostly use WiFi). Hate to say it but honestly I'm pleased with the Verizon prepaid service and may just move over to that and drop the old TracFone. I heard about new "unlimited minutes" TracFone plans, will investigate. But they will really have to up their game I think.
I'm pretty sure it applies to all plans (except $25 no data plan). The $35/$50 plans have the option of using all their data for a hotspot, but the $60/$85/$100 plans are capped at 10GB per user/line.
Sweet! Haven't been hotspotting due to getting kicked off the platform.. Seems silly that they limit family plans though.. I guess when the average person uses a few gigs a month, and they've got 60 now... That makes it cheaper. What burns me is that I'm paying for the data already. Why can't I use it as I please?
Really great to hear. I've been very annoyed that my Pixel 3a does a subscription check. I've been swapping my SIM card into an old S7 for when I needed hotspot.
EDIT: I just clicked the hotspot on my Pixel 3a and it turned right on. In the past it would say something like "You must have a subscription for this feature". Per the linked article it was rumored to have been enabled on 10/22 so at least for me this confirms that. I have the $100 4 line family plan.

I called Total Wireless on 11/2, for fun, and they claimed to know nothing of the upcoming hotspot activation on the 4th. The person did say that if hotspot becomes part of the plan in the future, TW would alert me. Hmmm

Called Tracfone, StraightTalk, Total Wireless, and even Verizon, they basically said that my area is not a high traffic area and that is the best.
Even bought a $600 WeBoost signal amplifier, with little improvement.
I just live in one of those areas that no service is great.....
"500gb" <--- ???
