Someone came in and thumbs downed every single post in this thread. This deal certainly rustled someone's jimmies. Have a thumbs back up on me.

This monitor has gone on sale a few times. I bought mine when it was $799 with a $75 Dell gift credit.
That was likely the older model. This one is the updated version and hasn't been that low yet from what I understand.

Ever since I upgraded my PC (~2 years ago to date) I have been slowly watching the panels that have showed up on the market. I used the previous generation of this monitor (AW3418DW) at a friend's house and thought it was the best thing ever.

I will be driving it with a 1080ti which hopefully will suffice until the gsync2 monitors and new cards get released.
1080ti should be plenty. I am only using a 980 ... waiting for the 3080ti (Assuming that is what it will be called).

I went for this and submitted for the extra 10%. Have been waiting for this one!
This will match my lunar white Alienware Area51m, and lunar white keyboard.

Thanks for the deal OP. Been using a 27" 144Hz G-Sync monitor for about 4 years now and been wanting an 34" ultrawide for the next upgrade. Wouldn't even think about this monitor at it's regular price but for $855 I'm sold.

How does or would this compare to running a 3 monitor setup? Are there benefits or negatives to either?

This monitor is 34.1 inches corner to corner diagonal, not sure how wide 3 monitors is without knowing the size.

The benefit of a single screen first and foremost is no bezels in the middle of the picture. Without knowing what monitors you are comparing to it is difficult to say any more.

I for one think a single monitor is easier to manage in Windows / Games to.

Don't you also get 3% back in Dell rewards for the purchase?

Yeah, but I never count that as part of the deal ... I seldom use the reward.

In this particular instance, I happened to have $39.05 from this earlier Slickdeal. Due to have expired 12/5/2019. It probably would have gone unused (like many others before it), if this killer monitor deal hadn't had come up.

I have two of the AW3418DW monitors that I paid less than 550 each for, and by far they have been my favorite gaming monitors.

Excited to see that there's an updated model of this with better specs, but will be holding out for them to drop more.

Good post OP.
I actually had horrible luck with the AW3418DW, and went with the Asus PG348Q instead. On paper the alienware is the better monitor, but the stutter and dark shadows around the edges were bothersome enough for a return, I thought it was just the one I got and returned it for a different one and it was the same, my local Microcenter has so many alienware returns and non Asus, so I know it isnt just me. Not saying yours is like that, but you may have got a good one out of the bunch, which seems pretty rare

Yeah I definitely don't have dark shadows or stutter on either of mine. The first one I received had a bad displayport cable that Dell Support replaced, but that was the only issue I had with them.

I have both monitors plugged into a 1080 atm.
