Dell is having a limited sale on their monitors including the new Alienware AW3420DW for $1000 + Tax & free shipping. (Normal is $1,500 + Tax)

Native 120 Hz refresh rate and is 34 inch gaming monitor with the full colors brought by IPS Nano Color (98% DCI-P3) technology and a 2ms response time. Featuring a 1900R WQHD resolution and 21:9 display ratio.

Biggest differences between this model an the older AW3418DW is the native 120Hz refresh rather than 100Hz OC to 120Hz found on the old, 98% DCI-P3 color, 2ms response time rather than 4ms, and an updated stand.

This price is less than the comparable Freesync LG panel.

Edit: Here is how to get it for $900 Shipped

1) Sign up for email to get 10% coupon code (Email took me ~20 min to arrive)
Email-LINK [dell.com]

2) Go to members page for the monitor

3) Add Monitor ($950) to cart and apply promo code from email to get the price down to $850. Expedited shipping will be free while Tax is ~$50

Got 1, managed to get 10% coupon and stacked with 2% CB + 5% from Chase Freedom through PayPal, this was a solid deal. All in, with taxes, it came out to $866 in NYC. The older model goes on sale for ~$600, so the extra cash for newer panel, native 120, and slightly better brightness was worth it. Not to mention the new look, which is very sleek. Yeah, the LG is the same panel, is 24 Hz faster, and costs $150 less. But that's pretty not enough to dissuade me given Dell's epic warranty, dead pixel policy, superior build quality, and looks that kill (it's worth something to some of us). Can probably find this model under $800 in the future, but now I get to enjoy it for months! I'm sorta bummed it's DP1.2, HDMI 1.4 and not HDMI 2.0 but hey, if that drives the monitor, good enough for me.

I think most that ordered got it to work Friday and maybe early Saturday morning before DELL probably disabled it from stacking with the discounted price of the monitor.

Yeah it sucks. I chatted with 2 different reps and they weren't able to do anything either.

Question. Is this still a good deal even without the 10% promo code discount?

I would wait until Black Friday if I were you. Maybe the 10% CB comes back then too.

Been evaluating a transition from my triple 27" 2K 10-bit 144hz setup to an ultrawide/s, but there's still some caveats, random marketing buzz words, and premium expense around the products in my opinion.

Was close to grabbing a Samsung CRG90 here locally for $1k, but decided to pass. The prices keep on dropping on ultrawides, and the screen tech is rapidly maturing to eliminate previous caveats.

While I'm sure this is a nice display... I guess I'm not connecting the dots as to why it's worth $1k.

Yeah, it's 34", 3440x1440, G-Sync (Although preference would be FreeSync), and 120hz, but I see a lot of those specs on monitors in this segment at the $500-700 range.

Is that 2ms response and "Fast IPS Nano Color" worth an almost 2x premium? It's still an 8-bit panel (16.7 mil colors) and port selection is your standard I/O for this segment (HDMI 1.4 / DP 1.2).

I'm definitely not a HaRdCoRe gamer, and any improvement going sub 4/5ms is negligible and a non-factor for me. Guessing I'm not the target audience for this? Just found it odd that this has gotten mega hype comment wise, as it seems somewhat luke-warm and normal/non-special pricing in my mind?

Not trying to thread crap, just really curious is all, as I'm in the market to join the *Ultrawide Master Race*.
What's your 27inch model ?

Glad that I pulled the trigger on this. I have the 2017 version which is amazing.
A fan of the new Alienware Legend design language.

Now just got to sell my 2017 version a recoup some of the costs.

Very solid monitor but the lack of HDR is a huge let down. After experiencing HDR 1000 when gaming HOLY crap you can never go back. It was like the first time seeing the difference between 480p and 1080p...it's a MASSIVE difference. All you gamers really really deserve to experience gaming in HDR 1000 so please try to see if you can game on such a display before pulling the trigger on a non HDR model in 2019/2020. I'm shocked that it's almost 2020 and they released this with no HDR. However, if this is all you can afford, it's a very very solid monitor for this price.
