Not true. Just because a speaker has a higher RMS doesn't mean it offers better performance or better sound. Cone material, surround, voice coil, basket....etc. It all plays a part in speaker sound.
Dual voice coil subwoofers are a popular choice among car audio enthusiasts who want more flexibility in wiring their sound systems. While typical subwoofers have a single voice coil, dual voice coil (DVC) subwoofers use two separate voice coils.
It just depends on how many subs you install and how you wire your sub
Depending on the amplifier with a DVC sub you could wire the sub for a lower impedence. Example if you have an amplifier that is 2 ohm stable (subwoofer has dual 4 ohm voice coils) you would wire the voice coils in parallel to get a 2 ohm load. Or if you have multiple subs you could wire in series/parallel configuration to get the load you desire.

Hi!

Maybe you know of an on-line source of info on Subwoofs, to compare this Kenwood wth the Pioneers, linked here:

https://slickdeals.net/f/13506013-pioneer-ts-w306r-12-subwoofer-single-voice-coil-49-99-best-buy

.... it's the Age Old question: Which is a better value, between the two Subwoofs.

It doesn't really make a difference, except when you get into the extreme enthusiast car audio builds

The pioneer you sent in the link is better, it has 350 RMS

RMS- how much power a particular subwoofer can handle on a continuous basis. How much power a subwoofer can hit every time, beat after beat

The higher the RMS, the better the performance

A subwoofer can have a peak of 2,000 watts and only have 200 RMS
And another subwoofer can have a peak of 1,000 watts and 400 RMS
I would always go with the higher RMS. It's better performance

I'd go with the Kenwood since it is cheaper and looks better IMO. Performance wise will be able same same, these are entry lvl subs so you won't be winning competition but the $20 you saved can go towards a better amp

Yes 100% correct. Also a cheap sub in the right enclosure can give amazing results.

Does anyone think it would be a good upgrade from the woofer in this? https://www.monoprice.com/product...gJGqvD_BwE

The Kenwood is more of a car audio sub which usually are 4 ohm rated. The Monoprice sub is more likely rated at 8 ohm. I could be wrong. If the amp in the Monoprice can handle a 4 ohm load and the enclosure has the right air space you could try it.
