If you are wondering about fitting textbooks and other things in there it seems to have plenty of room in the 2 big pockets. I compared it to the classic JanSport backpack, which is 16" h x 13" w . This Samsonite bag is 19" h x 13" w so you should have plenty of room for larger books and things.... assuming that's what you're talking about.

that and if it will look too formal for school.. will show my teen in the AM. Her current backpack is not big enough to hold all the stuff she has to carry to school.
