    Sony sets MAP(Minimum advertised price) so all authorized dealers will usually show the same price. When Sony allows retailers to drop the price, everyone will usually drop the price too. There can be specific discounts that apply like student discount here.

    You can use something like Green toe to circumvent the MAP, And should be able to get under $1800, but I haven't seen anything under $1620, so good deal if you have student discount.

    I thought you'd have to have like a valid student email to get the student deals (that's what I remember doing back when I was in school), but I was able to sign up to get the student discount without having to enter that info - just entered in a random school with a projected graduation date!

    Been debating if I should move up toa7iii for the superior autofocus and better low lights or switch to xt3. Now this new Sony price just make it even harder.

    This deal is so good it's tempting me to jump ship from my Canon 6D Mark II and holy trinity (Sigma 14-24mm F/2.8, Canon 24-70 F/2.8L II and Canon 70-200mm F/2.8L IS II) to this with a metabones adaptor. Mind you Eye Focus AF will still work with this setup but not in a video setup. It's still a plus on video as you can manual focus with focus peaking and IBIS is giving stabilization on any non-IS lenses.
