I went and created a new "throw away" gmail account. To that, I linked a credit card I haven't used before. I also just moved so I was able to plug in my new address (not sure if that makes a difference). It let me apply the coupon and check out with no problems though.

Is there some trick people are using to get the new shopper discount? I assume Google blocks if you have the same shipping address or credit card as used on another account right?

I had my account all setup for google pay and had an old address but still let me apply the promo code. Looks good, been wanting Octopath but haven't been able to justify the price with it out on PC as well.

I was wondering about this too. I can get a Virtual Visa account but I don't want to commit to trying unless I know it works for sure.

Use virtual cc. Create a gmail account, create virtual cc, all sets.
I do not know ,if google checking my address so far. I had order multiple times with the same address with my virtual cc

Even with a prepaid giftcard or virtual card, I suspect you can only get this "deal" a few times max at an address
