Always need to consider the transfer fee for balances transfers, and should be included in this post.

"There is a balance transfer fee of either $5 or 3% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater."

Chase Slate is only 15 months but 0% balance transfer fee.

The slate itself sucks as a card to actually use for anything other than the BT, but if you're mainly concerned about the BT, and the 3 extra months won't kill you, it saves you 3% of however much you're transferring over this... plus once you're done with the BT you can product change it into a genuinely useful card like a Freedom or something.
After years of being on airline miles cards I switched to this card. I am very happy with it. Airline miles are worth an average of 1.3 cents per dollar spent these days. This card is worth 2 cents per dollar to me as a shopper. It takes VERY little effort to redeem the 2% cash back. I enjoy the value and simplicity of this card. I find the citi web site and mobile app to be stronger than alternative bank sites and apps. I don't have the time or desire to manage multiple cards.

Never had any problem using my card and I don't text

I don't really trade- I invest but 20 years ago I did a little more short term trades
Had lots with mine - and dealing with the company is a pain as it's a third party that really doesn't seem to care. No more of that with Citi.... I guess if you just use it to pay bills, etc. - wouldn't be much of an issue. I use that card as my default unless I'm using my other cards that get more than 2%.

What's the max for Slate transfer? If I have other chase cards can I transfer the available balance from the other cards to the slate card?

You can't transfer balances already at Chase.

So. Slick Deals replaced the Featured(sponsored) tab with "for you" and integrated sponsored posts with "Front Page" not very slick. SMH. This website is a shell is it's former self.

I guess slate is no longer available online to apply. Is there any way we can apply for the card now?

There's a report that you can apply for a Slate card in person at a local Chase office. Give it a try if there is an office near you.

You only need 3 cards in your wallet. #1. The Fidelity Rewards card - 2% on everything, all the time, with zero yearly fee. #2 Amazon card for Amazon and Whole foods, #3 Costco card for Costco and gas. https://www.fidelityrewards.com/c...enefits.do

No 200 dollar sign up bonus? That seems to be the minimum at the moment.

For all of those complaining about the "3% balance transfer fee", stop. Or at least break it down in a way that many others need to understand. I.e. a healthier way to look at this is - you're financing your transferred balance at a (locked, 2% APR rate). Because 3% @ 18 months = 2% APR for 18 months. That's SIGNIFICANTLY lower than what most people considering this promotion are looking to pay in interest on whatever credit card they're currently holding balances on.

Now, obviously, if you're so liquid you don't have a need for float your debt for a year or two, good for you. But saying crap like "I need to see a 60 month offer at a locked 2% rate" is asinine. There's not a single lending institution in this country that would offer a balance transfer loan for 60 months @ 0.4% APR rate (locked 2% for 60 months = 0.4% per year*).

It's really quite simple math people. And beyond that, it's common sense. Understand your audience, we're having a discussion on a bargain-finding website after-all. Geez.

Thank you for posting this! I'm reading through these comments wondering why so many abhor a one time balance transfer of 3% of the amount with no interest charges each month thereafter for 15-18 months. Example: transfer 10k and pay $300 transfer fee upfront. Assuming an 18% apr interest rate is currently attached to the 10k and you didn't transfer, you're paying $150 a month in interest; assuming that balance remains constant and you only pay off the monthly interest charge as to not compound your future interest cost) 15 months of interest charges would sum to $2,250, but you'd end up saving $1,950 after 15 months if you transferred the 10k. You could double up and invest that interest money that would have been spent each month in your investment portfolio (ira, 401k, bonds/stocks, index funds, gold, crypto etc...) depending on your risk tolerance. You'll pay taxes on the money you made off the investments but a talented tax person would be able to mitigate most of that and you'd make all of that $300 balance transfer fee back and more if you invest wisely. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'd love to here about some other financial strategies.

Applied for this and got a message saying "Reviewing and in pending status". When I called Citi, they told that a letter was sent out for verification and asked me to call back after i receive it? Any one had this issue??

I read "Earn 1% on your payments up to the $75 you purchased as long as you pay at least the minimum due. You can pay in full, or over time, and still earn cash back." Does it mean there is a cap that one can earn 1% cashback only up to the $75 purchase? For example, the purchase is $500 and one pays in full. Will one earn $10 ($500 x 1% + $500 x 1%) after making a full payments of $500?
