The display model was an i3 but I gave it a shot and bought one anyway - it's an i3 according to the box Frown. I'll have to think about whether I want to return it or try at another Costco, or just keep it. I guess the display model is a good way to see what the stock is. I checked out the display model, it's definitely not MacBook or XPS grade casing but for the price I think it's totally fine.
which Costco is this? in LA shows i5. I decided to buy one online if it turns out it's an i3 I would return too

Hey guys,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkDt8OLS5Yw

I made this video here showing how to take apart the laptop. The one in the video is the 2018 model but the only difference between the 2018 and 2019 model is 2 extra screws which I discuss in the video.

I hope this helps those who have questions regarding upgrading of the internals.

do you still get 2 years of extra warranty when using the Costco Visa through the Google Shopping portal?

The Portland Oregon store also show i5 when you open up system info. I bought one and can confirm it's i5 too

I did not. I tried changing the fan setting to passive from active in the power settings but no luck.
How bad it is in your system, Is it too noisy? I updated my BIOS with the latest from HP also installed speedfan, hwmonitor to monitor the temp and fan. Looks like "Temp1" is the one that is shooting. I haven't played with custom fan setting yet.

yeah me too, it's a high pitched whiny noise, especially got super loud when i started doing system updates.

I kind of wish the bottom was aluminum instead of plastic, so it would dissipate heat better... Frown but i guess I shouldn't complain since it was only $280... lol

That's pretty much what I am experiencing. It's just too annoying when you are using it continuously. I wonder if more people have the same issue and is there any fix for it

my costco display model was an i5 according to the system info in windows.

bought one and will sleep on it, and sticker on the box clearly indicates i5-10xxxxxx

first person above to say their costco was an actual i3

Honestly I was just installing some updates, and the cpu cores (read by HWMonitor) go up to 80C... I'm starting to get super skeptical of this laptop. maybe it's not meant to have an i5 in it? I mean it's plastic instead of aluminum, plastic is an insulator, while aluminum is a really good heatsink...
