Yes, 3 displays including the laptop screen. Looking for a compatible cable. I assumed any USB 3.1 Type-C to HDMI would work, but perhaps not? Do you know if something like this will work: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075V68...B01M3PTUV6 [amazon.com]
From my readings, that will not work. This USB-C does NOT support power or display. You can only transfer data. I believe the Costco Dell laptop for $400 supports it (https://slickdeals.net/f/13537666-dell-14-5000-series-2-in-1-laptop-ryzen-5-3500u-8gb-ram-128gb-nvme-ssd-1080p-ips-touchscreen-399).

Mybe now we know the reason why costco was selling this laptop so cheap, WITHOUT fixing the info on price labels and online..

the heatpipe is small, the fan is shallow and cheap, probably good enough for i3 to cool..

HP mybe decided to not do any pgrades but just cram an i5 inside, and prob sell it $600-$700, and after that was done, they figire out will constantly overheat, fans will run nonstop, and will be pretty noisy..

Dumped em at Costco for BF deal..

It will be possibly $279 but who knows the new arrivals will still be i5s. If you want I would recommend go to a store and grab one.
Online stock is in and out.
Success in store, so deal is not dead, just YMMV if local store has any.

Probably not as Costco doesn't want returns.
The more likely cause was a shortage of i3 as Intel has had issues with the 10nm production line.

HP had to get this delivered for Costco's BF ad/sale. That said, they didn't upgrade the fan when they threw in the i5 CPU.
Question is...does the $400 i5 version have a better heatsink/fan? (or is this a (-) HP feature for this model line?)

My local Costco has them in stock and I'll pick one up at lunch to try it out. 90 day return policy is great. Can anyone confirm that the i5 isn't throttled to only run at i3 speed?

Performance is mentioned somewhere in the prior 1480 posts.

UPDATE:
Actually check the WIKI on this thread. The comparison is in there.

Mybe, its still incredible value for the money and best BF budget laptop.

its just as with everything you get what you pay for, and tradeoffs will be made:

it will heat up under load and fans will make noise, so if you mostly using it on a desk ans not burning your lap, or tue soumd of the fan doesnt realy botter you, it is good !!

it will work, and get its money worth 10x in the next few years you use it..

I think if you are looking beyond 2 physical displays you are going to be disappointed.
There has been no indications so far that anyone has got 3 displays to work.

the i5 is pretty strong actualy incredibly so, with the enough amount of fast RAM (10th gen can support 3200MHz) it actualy gets close to 11K CPU score on Passmark..

thats a about 10% behind a i7-8750H lol and been 15W CPU at the same time

is just the cooling sux

I actually looked at the heatsink for my missus' hp 15 inch laptop that came with 8250u. The heatsink and pipe don't look significantly larger than this. However the heatpipe is copper and the fan is larger. This one has a black heatpipe? But i guess this is copper too... But the fan is definitely smaller.

All said and done; what really matters is whether the current cooling solution is adequate or not. Which only benchmarking / stress testing can show. If we have a lot or throttling, throttling too early, or not hitting the advertised turbo speeds consistently, I'd be worried.

If the fan CAN move enough heat, i would tolerate it even if it makes a bit of noise. This is a 15 watt TDP processor. The i3 the setup this was intended for is also 15 watts. More whirring or not, I'd expect the fan to move 15 watts of heat.

Aside from adjusting fan settings, another option is to UNDERVOLT this laptop if the fan is bothersome. Granted, if you're doing heavy calculations like photo or video editing, you probably want to maintain the original voltage.
- Intel XTU
- Throttlestop

Just search "laptop undervolting guide".
I haven't tried it, but it could balance out the issues and it is configurable where you can enter different PROFILES of when to undervolt, overvolt, keep standard.

I tried it, froze after -60mV CPU and cache, not much to gain there.

I have this instead.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FSH12Z3/
(wow, it is just $15 now with the coupon. I paid more with Lightning deals)

which comes with HDMI port as well. I can try it tonight and let you know if that works.
