These are nice, but I am pretty sure they take up both outlets when plugged in.

Technically they do not take up both outlet, but you need to find a plug skinny enough to fit in the bottom if this is on the top.

Thanks - one of these died on me. Although it was under warranty , I have to pay return shipping. This deal is only a few dollars different and I don't have to drive anywhere to drop anything off. I agree , taking up plug space is a down side . But for my needs right now it is ok.

Not always, if you have something simple like a clock radio, or a very flat plug you can fit two items. Source: have this exact set up in a few locations in my house.

They do. They are great because they have energy monitoring, but their size is overly intrusive.

There is another slickdeal for the updated skinny one that is a 4 pack for $40. I'd probably just go that route. I'm hoping black friday pops up a deal on them. I could use some more.

I don't think this model has energy monitoring. You want the HS110 for that.

Beware of this form factor. I had a high end server plugged into the model of this that has energy monitoring... So I know the peak wattage was just over 1000w... The smartplug smoked itself, I wasn't present to see whether it flamed or not, but it was rendered useless. TP-Link was very shifty about it, and wanted me to send the plug to them before they would make it right. Photos are up on Amazon, and mine isn't the only one.
