I have to agree 5.0 is great for the mid level amp draw tools, prob much cheaper, and generally you get them for free with promo deals on tools. I have so many from promos I haven't even opened some.

Charge time, weight, capacity, ability it really is a sweet spot, it should be noted my testing is primarily with fuel stuff.

Interestingly HO's have shown to provide slightly more power even on pre HO tools, though I wonder if it just has to do with less voltage sag under load due to higher capacity. Like wonder if a 6.0HO can put down similar power to say 8.0, or 3.0HO vs a 4 or 5. I'll toy around tomorrow.

Anyway to the point, old school or not, 5.0 has a wide use range and is cheap

less voltage sag is precisely the reason tools run better on the newer batteries.

how is this a good deal when International tool had the 12ah battery for $100 a couple of months back? agreed this is the best deal now, but could buy two 12ah batteries if they have the sale again.

Honestly, I agree. I do B2B operations with lithium battery cells and know how much I could get cells that size with that C rating from China. They're making a farking killing off you guys.

The large one is great for the portable vac, the only problem with it for me was it doesn't fit the large magnet light because it is too big.

Ah I see, I still wonder if it is directly related to capacity, maybe just the newer 21700 cells, or the rails/connector between.

In any case "newer" could be misleading, I believe xc8.0 is newer than 12HO, but believe the latter has more "power". I do assume you mean newer design/cells or more accurately/ specifically HO batteries, but this still may not be accurate as I'm told the 3.0HO ( which is also considered a CP battery), which is one of the newest, has only on par power with an XC battery.

Yes the 12HO is another beast though, and I'll assume the 6.0OH also might be more powerful than XC. Still can't help but wonder exactly why.

All this talk makes me want to adapt on one of my fpv drone Lithium Polymer batteries with a 100 + C discharge rating to see if I can't supercharge a power tool. Sure my capacity to weight ratio will go in the toilet, but it sure would be a fun experiment.😂

The 12 is just too heavy, I stick with my 9a. I personally don't see the need of the 12a battery. It just weighs too much. 2x 9a or 1x 9a and a few 3a are perfect for most people

Dammn bad timing for me.. been looking for these for a while.. these are good mod for 12v power wheel conversion.. 12ah is great for them.. low weight, smaller package, better than lead acid.
