I bought one of these last year on closeout for the same price. It is an incredible winter coat. Got me through the polar vortex in Chicago last winter wonderfully.

In terms of quality(sturdiness), I actually rate them above Banana Republic or Jcrew, but the design and fit is another story. They're not in the same class when it comes to being fashionable but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. I think they are on the opposite end of the spectrum as brands I personally can't stand that basically make disposable clothing (i.e H&M, Express, Forever21...)

Yeah, I bought a down jacket about 14 years ago, and its still holding up really well.

Yes it's a PIA to return these. Either you gotta pay to ship or you gotta make a journey to your nearest store which might be days away.

I can confirm Lands End has been around a very long time and their quality is very good. I was going to bite on this but I live in San Diego and can't foresee myself in cold enough weather to need this, it would be overkill.
