How much better is this than the 10" lenovo smart display? Usually you can pickup one of those refrub (like new) for around $80
i have all 4. small home hub and the 10" one . lenovo 8" and 10" ones. This is the best in class. It has an amazing screen which is much better than the lenovo 10". sound is also better.
if you are not looking for a quality photo frame and a security camera then the lenovo 10" will work. I got a few new units from ebay for 75 a few weeks back.
What's the difference between Standard and Max? Is extra $100 worth it?
When I looked the main difference is bigger screen, bigger speaker, camera to use for video calls. If you have the space and want better audio and ability to video call then the bigger one is nice. For the bedroom I'd use the smaller one because I don't want a camera in the bedroom (you can disable the camera if you want on the larger one).

the small one drops to ~$55 often. At 4x the price its hard to justify for myself.

I got the small one for free through some type of energy saving program with my Nest thermostat. The big one can also be used as a security cam in addition to it's other advantages. I like the small one and mainly use it for a slideshow of my pictures, a timer and to ask it the same kind of things as I would use my google mini for.
