Is the Home Depot 11% Menards rebate match a scam?

For those that don't know, if you have a Menards store in your area Home Depot says they will match their 11% rebate on your total purchase during the times when they run that promotion.

Over the past few months I filed rebates for $5, $60, and $15, and haven't received any of them. I did them electronically and cut-n-pasted the relevant info from my e-receipt so there is no chance of error or things getting lost in the mail. I called about the first 2 and they said they had a computer problem and needed to resubmit them. Now they say the $5 rebate card is "in the mail" ( for the past 2 weeks - yeah right ) but the other 2 are still "invalid" . Long story short it seems I'll never get the rebates.

One of them was invalidated because my purchase had a "discount" on it. They couldn't see the actual receipt but said every single item had been marked as having a discount. I had used $8 worth of store credit on a $140 purchase, but there's no reason a different form of payment should invalidate the 11% rebate. There is a chance something was on sale, but there was no indication of any discounts on the receipt and I'm pretty sure some items were not on sale. Bottom line, in either case menards would still give 11% on the full amount.

Has anyone else has good or bad luck with the home depot 11% rebate or is it just me?

When I was doing one a long time ago, I noticed that the receipt number in purchase history on the website would drop one of the numbers. Maybe that's why?

My friend did many in the past without issue.

In my case they had no problem with the receipt number being valid, they verified that when I called.

it is of course in the rebate processor's benefit to deny a high percentage of rebate submissions.
I'm not sure who used to do Home Depot's rebate processing before, but ever since they switched to Parago/BlackHawk Engagement my rebate submissions have been denied for no reason. I purchase in excess of $7500 per month and try to time my big purchases with the 11% rebate. Tracking and resubmitting rebates has become a part time job.

They did say they would match Menards so seeing as Menards will always cheat you out of the 11% rebate they are matching what Menards will give you. 0

I agree it is a scam. Never had an issue with menards sending out their rebates. Home depot has denied all of mine (3) saying "no eligible items". Of course I received no notification and had to look up by tracking number.

Home Depot's customer service is very poor, don't expect them to pay off and filing a complaint with them will get you nowhere.

After many issues with my rebates like
not receiving them
I called the Rebate Center several times I've been told the rebates are mailed by Bonnie
When I never received them I call again a month later then I'm told nothing qualifies

I've taking them to someone in management who also cannot get a straight answer

But I have figured it out my store carries around 65000 skus in other words products that have a SKU number

If you look at the excluded list it's hilarious 1106 pages approximately 60 skus per column two columns that would be well over a hundred and twenty thousand skus

No wonder we're not getting a rebate nothing is on the list Menards it is the whole receipt including the sale tax no exceptions no sales excluded no promotions excluded it's just straight up 11% of the entire receipt

I totally agree. the 11% match to Menards is a scam.
I have 4 rebates in with them - spent over $5,000 on carpet and never have seen any rebated.
My advice to you is to keep shopping at Menards - they are great.
If you did not know - they will off an 11% rebate if you bought something the week before.
It is called the 11% Adjustment - you need to get this from a store manager.
Menards is great - Home Depot is very dishonest.

I've never had a problem with Home Depot 11% rebate match. It's easier submitting on line (save a stamp) and you get an immediate confirmation number. With Menards, you hope and wait several weeks that they even received your submission. But the biggest scam with Menards is, if you compare prices for the exact same item, Menards is priced higher so even with their 11%, you're paying more. Plus 99% of Menards stuff is Chinese garbage.

11% rebate just means that week Menard's prices are 11% higher

That could be true on average, but I regularly get great deals with the 11% and shop everywhere to compare.

Unlike Menards, Home Depot 11% Match is only on full price items in store purchases. where Menards is on any purchase. Bought washer and dryer and the purchase did not qualify for the 11% Rebate match. I will be buying full price candy bars at the check out and sending in just to keep the rebate center open.

Home Depot does not MATCH up to Menards. Same brand at Menards is better deal than Home Depot on my purchases.

Keep the Rebates coming.

It never occurred to me that Home Depot would be gaming this. I did a big bathroom renovation this summer. Lots of trips to Home Depot and menards. Lots of rebates because menards was running the rebate all summer and Home Depot was matching. Home Depot e-mails receipts so I tracked everything in a spreadsheet. Lots of missing rebates. Lots of low numbers from Home Depot.

The approval on HD rebates for me is about 1 out of 3.

the ones that get rejected say they were rejected for being filed outside of the 30 day window in which they are supposed to be submitted.... which is a lie since I always file within a few days of purchase. Since they offer no updates once they receive the submission you have no way of knowing unless you check it daily if something was wrong.

If you do more than one rebate make sure to write the tracking number on the receipt so you know which one it corresponds with
