Nope but there is a state tax to replenish the aquifers and I have to pay it. My utility doesn't tax me but they send a water usage report in and then that is taxed and added to my property taxes. I'm pretty frugal so mine is only a few thousand per year but my neighbor down the road with both a front/back lawn and a swimming pool pays almost $8k per year in water tax alone.

The Moen requires cutting into your piping and installing it. For those who can't DIY, that adds an extra $100+ to the cost. Also, since this installs on your existing meter, it can tell you there's a leak anywhere from the meter forward. Where I live, my meter is at the street and I'm responsible for anything after it. So, if the piping between the meter and the house gets a leak, it's on me. A coworker had that happen and owed over $1k in water usage that just dumped into the ground.
Personally, I'm less worried about monitoring the pipe from the street and will he installing mine on a secondary meter in the house. My issue with the Moen is that it's plastic and looks cheap. I'm concerned about the durability of it long term. With the Flume, the actual metering is being done by an accurate, durable, expensive meter that's established and in widespread use (the one supplied by the water company). I'm going to be pairing mine with the Taco leak detector system that has a separate valve to shut down the water. In addition to the sensor it comes with to put on the floor next to the water heater, I'm going to hook up a remotely controlled relay so I can trip it remotely. This will require me to take the manual step of tripping the system when the flume alerts me of an issue (unless the floor sensor also gets wet) but at least I'll have the ability to do so and will be using a Taco valve, which I trust 100x more than the Moen.
Didn't work yesterday..
In Las Vegas I applied for 50% rebate so the water company had to come to my home and check to be sure it was actually installed, only reason I contacted them

I went home to find out what it was, I had some difficulty finding the leak and it turned out to be a sprinkler water supply that on the far end of my large property and was not being used so I would have never noticed the leak, the pipe had cracked and would of leaked for a month until my next bill came.
My buddy bought one when I told him about mine, he received an $800 water bill, his pool autofiller got stuck open and was just pouring into the drain for a month, he fixed the bad valve and after installing the Flume within 10 mins of installing it notified of a potential leak, did some searching and found the same pool autofill was shooting a very small stream of water, we adjusted the valve and the leak stopped.
Totally worth it, if you own your home get one, no brainer
