650 fill down is meh- not bad, not anything to write home about- its readily available in large quantities. It's the minimum quality down that shows "OK quality". 800+ and above is considered premier, with the 850 tending to be the most common in the lightest and warmest jackets/clothes. It goes higher, but 900+ loft gets really hard to find as its really only available in much smaller quantities...or custom "builds"

Is it me or does the model they got for this jacket look super uncomfortable in it? That's not doing it any favors.

I would consider this but I'm wary that they don't show a side view with the hood on. I've dealt with far too many shallow hoods at this point in my life to willingly invest in products that may have them.

Perhaps you're being cynical, but you're not wrong. If you look up this jacket, you can see it's been promoted on other deal sites with unique codes as well. I'd wager at least half of the posts on this site are referrals whether it's from SD staff or third parties pretending to be slickdealers dropping "deals". Always do research before buying anything posted here, you might be buying low quality goods or falling for a fake "deal".

It's not similar if it doesn't have a hood. I've found a hood to be extremely useful in the cold blowing wind.

Lol. I like how you didn't mention the amount of fill.

900 is pointless if there is only a small amount.

Fill power also doesn't mean quality. It's just a measurement like lbs and ft.

just bought the 30 dollar costco Gerry (i think) 'puffy jacket' 650 fill (says on sleve). i love it. keeps me toasty. no hat tho, which is why i was thinking about getting this one

We cannot be paid to post a deal. Sites do send over offers, yes. But it is no different really than getting a promotional email to your personal inbox.

I researched this before posting. At the time I researched, I could not find a price close to this. And no 3rd parties can promote their deals here, it is forbidden.

I always encourage people to research before buying. It just makes sense. I never assume that someone will see a deal here and buy blindly, nor would I want that. As for my deals, I have no "skin in the game" so to speak. If a deal I post is a success, it makes absolutely no difference to me than if it was a failure. But if it was a success, I might get a slight sense of joy that I helped people.

As for "sucker deals", I take exception to this, as I could not find a price close to what this is being offered for. If you can find a better deal, please post it.

I appreciate the response... I have been an SD'er for a long time.. I love the site..I don't mind the paid promo's around the site so I'm glad to hear there is an effort to keep the FP organic
