We cannot be paid to post a deal. Sites do send over offers, yes. But it is no different really than getting a promotional email to your personal inbox.
Actually this sat for a good while with no attention.
Some deals are worked out with merchants, yes. Most of what I post though I find organically.
No one can pay to have a deal frontpaged, and no one can pay to have a deal posted. I post what I think are good deals, from stores I like, for items I like (or think others will like).
I researched this before posting. At the time I researched, I could not find a price close to this. And no 3rd parties can promote their deals here, it is forbidden.
I always encourage people to research before buying. It just makes sense. I never assume that someone will see a deal here and buy blindly, nor would I want that. As for my deals, I have no "skin in the game" so to speak. If a deal I post is a success, it makes absolutely no difference to me than if it was a failure. But if it was a success, I might get a slight sense of joy that I helped people.
As for "sucker deals", I take exception to this, as I could not find a price close to what this is being offered for. If you can find a better deal, please post it.
Am I being cynical by thinking this is some sort of paid promo from MW? The coupon code is SLICKMHWDEAL. Coincidence the wording is the same as this site?
This same jacket was 69.95 on 11/06/19 with 50% off $140 code from edealinfo + free shipping. Now it's 200 and 60% off? $10 Slickdeals tax I guess.

never had mountain hardware but would like to give it a try with this one. looks like all SDers like it so far. How'z refund works with them? looks like $6 ups level fee within 60 days. can you return it free in a local store?
One note for those of you that haven't shopped with MH directly.... I don't know if this is for everything they sell but once I had to send a jacket back because it didn't fit right. I had to pay the shipping to send it back to them. That was a bit annoying because most of the online merchants I shop with have some kind of free returns on clothing/apparel.... especially if it does not fit right.
I still support MH because I love their products and I'm willing to take this chance when they offer discounts this good (which happens several times throughout the year).
Past couple of years Macy's has run deals on quality kids/toddler coats around this time - last year we picked up North Face coats at a huge discount.
North Face has become shit quality compared to Mountain Hardware. I mean, they're carried by Costco. Fine for a toddler, but that's about it. Totally devalued brand.
How is this jacket for truly freezing winter weather in the north east?
It's 650 down, which is good quality, but the other factor is the weight/amount of down used which appears to be insufficient to stay warm on a sub-freezing or windy day. This is made for moderate weather or use as a midlayer in very cold temperatures.
Not really. The Lands End one has 800 fill power, while MH is just 650.
but the land's end one is only part down. They are using synthetic fill for the pockets, sides and hood. Granted primaloft is good synthetic, but it's not as good warmth to weight as even 650 down.
Looking for a toddlers jacket, any recommendations?
I use either The North Face Perrito, or a Patagonia Down Sweater for all 3 of my kids. Keep them warm, and pass the car seat test, so no need to take them off before putting them in the car. They keep their value, too, so you can resell them once they have outgrown them. And I've found good deals in the past, so haven't had to pay full price ever
not good. this is more like a 30-40 degree jacket at best.
Basically agree with this with one exception. Physical activity. If you are going to be hiking or moving alot this jacket will be quite warm down into the 20s. If you are just standing around you'll be quite cold at 35. Factor in the wind and it get worse.
Best thing about this jacket is for its size and weight it's quite warm. Packing this is a breeze. It's a great winter travel jacket.
