O'Reilly Online Learning is a fantastic online learning portal, with books, videos, and live interactive instructor-led learning for multiple IT subjects. The deal is $199 for the first year, down from the usual $399 annual subscription. At that price this is a no-brainer for the IT professional.

Thank you! I've been waiting on this my subscription ends tomorrow from last year's deal. I wish they would bring back the lifetime for $199. I was worried there wouldn't be a code this year.
Many public libraries have online learning like Lynda.com (video based) or Gale Courses (interactive) for free. Wouldn't advise getting this unless you don't have an alternative.
I subscribed earlier this year for $199. This is a heck of a deal. I mainly use O'Reilly for data science specifically ML/AI.
I use it for Python, Tensorflow, PyTorch, Blockchain fundamentals, Cuda etc. This is indeed a no brainer if you want to skill up for the most in demand skills of today.
Some of the Publishers included in the sub are O'Reilly, Safari, Packt.
Good luck and I hope you find what you are looking for when you get this.
How does the course quality compare to say U-DEMY? I know there are a lot of trashy classes on U-DEMY. But there are a lot of good ones too. $199 is enough to buy almost 20 classes on U-DEMY.
I already have access to Oreilly books through Gatech library. Is it still worthwhile to get this?

Is this portal useful for someone not from the IT field but interested in getting their toes wet and perhaps considering a career change?
Absolutely, yes. There is a ridiculous amount of high quality video courses, and books on just about any topic you could want in IT/software development.
Without being able to see their content I have no way to tell if this would be useful to me or not. Has anyone found a link to a content overview? I worry that this is a just going to be a big pile of "introduction to whatever" courses and videos of presentations from their conferences but have no actual depth.

I can't speak to Gale (haven't previously heard of it), but having had both Lynda and O'Reilly for several years I can attest to the fact that they're very different products.
Relatively speaking, Lynda caters to a much wider audience as it covers many topics completely unrelated to IT. O'Reilly focuses almost exclusively on IT, with a heavy concentration on software development.
Lynda is (or was last time I used it) exclusively video-based learning, whereas O'Reilly supplements its impressive video library with a large catalog of e-books, and offers regular live learning sessions in which members can interact with an instructor.
Finally (and quite anecdotally), Lynda has excellent in-depth training on certain topics such as the Adobe suite, but its videos on software development are fairly superficial when compared with O'Reilly's.
Short version: Lynda offers breadth; O'Reilly offers depth. If forced to choose between them, creative types should opt for Lynda, and IT professionals for O'Reilly.
