I've always LOVED Fossil watches, but this model particularly can go to hell. I've had the metallic charging rings on the back fall off on TWO different replacements with normal daily use. I could forgive the slowness of Wear OS and it's other flaws since it was really handy (even the subpar battery life), but after having the ring fall off within a month on my first model (purchased last Black Friday era) and then less than 2 months later after my replacement (which I didn't wear for a month because I was loving my secondary watch), I can't be arsed to deal with the Gen 4s anymore. The Gen 5 may be better performance and features-wise, but it's still using those awful charge rings.

Luckily the warranty is long and good on these models, but you're going to be going through the headache of getting a new watch every few months if you use it regularly...the way it's supposed to be used! Sweat and active use will deteriorate the weak glue holding the charge rings together, making you unable to charge without finessing the rings (until it eventually stops charging period).

Disclaimer: My experience doesn't reflect every single user, but there's been enough posts and reviews out there commenting about the same problem. Do your research!
I own this for more than a month and never had battery issues, I charge it every morning. It just drops to 30% after 24 hr use.

Also, these were 139 couple of months before on Fossil site
Had for few days. I hated the battery life on this..

I will say this after having two WearOS smartwatches and now two Samsung Galaxy watches......... get any version of the Samsung Galaxy Watch. Battery life and performance are infinitely better than any WearOS watch. Yes the new Gen 5 with 1GB RAM helps a lot but battery life and performance still isn't close to a Samsung Galaxy Watch. Unless you have to have certain apps that are only on WearOS there's almost no reason to get one.

I'm guessing this has a glass face right? I'm still wearing the OG Huawei watch because it came with a crystal face and is still scratch-free 4 years later. How was Huawei able to put a crystal face on their watch while models twice the price or more still come with scratch-prone glass? I want to eventually upgrade but I refuse without a crystal face without spending an arm and leg.

I have the 3 now for 18 mos and the battery is still pretty good. Probably will last like 36 hours on a full charge.

Yeah, me too. Amazing that it's been 3+ years for me and yet I'm not sure if there is a watch that is significantly better.

This watch doesn't seem to be "the one" based on reports of 4 hour battery life.

How is the app that connects to the watch? I have a Garmin and app support has been good. I suspect Fitbit is the same. Fossil, I have my doubts.

The 4th gen doesn't have a speaker. I'm still rocking my 3rd gen with speaker. I have a fitbit for heart rate monitoring. Waiting for 5th gen but don't know when it's out.

I've got one of these.
Pros -
- Looks great
- Works consistently
- Being able to see upcoming meetings and texts on your watch is a luxury you dont know that you miss, when you dont have it. Get used to it and you can't go back.

Cons -
- Short battery life of about 36 hours under normal use.
- Can't really type fresh texts. Ok for quick multiple choice responses such as choosing between Yes, No and Don't Know. Google is good at suggesting the right ones.

Make your peace with the battery life and you will like it. If you can't, then don't go for it.
The battery charges quickly - so I just charge it once a day for like 30-,40 mins as I am showering and getting ready to work. So I don't really worry about it and like the watch.

PS - As far as the rear ring coming off, that is not a problem that I have encountered in the last 2 months. But I don't do dishes or take bath wearing this. Just a bit of sweating has been no problem for this watch.

two things to consider here. the men's version of this watch is huge, obnoxiously so in my opinion. the women's version of the same watch finish is the perfect size for most men and less garish. I'm 6'1" 230+lbs and it is in proper proportions of a standard watch for me.

also, if it was produced along the first runs the back will come off after a few months. just know this. after it happens just bring it to a fossil shop and they'll exchange or order the exchange for you and it will be a gen 4.5

Great price and love the look of my fossil explorer, but I've had so many problems with boot-loops until the battery dies.
