I had the 7 and it was so slow. 8 was much better. It's still slower than the iPad but at this price point it's hard to compare the two

Amazon tablets are full of ads you will regret buying it. I returned mine the next day.

Don't they still let you pay an extra $20 for an ad-free version? That's how it was when they launched it.

My kids have these and they're still unbelievably slow, but it's less than $100, comes with two free replacements for when and if they destroy them and has some decent learning games they can access. Be aware that FreeTime is a joke when it comes to controlling age appropriate content on any video service, even prime, since my 6 year old now knows all about Pennywise

We're very happy with ours, we have two, one for each kid. They love their tablets, tons of good learning games too. I'd highly suggest them, I've never seen ads nor any slowness issues.

What happens when the 1 year of freetime unlimited runs out? Can my kid still access the games? His expires next week

These low power fire tablets are extremely slow. Would not recommend.

Subscription is something like $5 a month to continue it. For the cost of the tablets buy a new one for another free year and give it as a gift or give the old one to someone.

How fragile are the 7"/8" amazon tablets, that people keep paying $30 for the foam case & no-fault warranty? (honest question) Especially as the Fire 7 tablet kids edition is literally also the price of buying a 2nd one when a first breaks.

I assume that kids have to be breaking the tablet without the case like crazy, if slickdealers have loved paying the extra $30 for years. Tho if you have 2 kids, you could just buy a regular + a kids edition. Then put the foam case on the regular one, and use the warranty as needed for the kids edition w/o the foam case, while having the regular one physically protected.
...If you're unethical and/or super thrifty (then again, you'd probably just buy a cheap foam case or make your own, if you were that extreme of a thrift nut)

Buy 2 get an extra $20 off. I needed 2 so it worked out great. $149.77 tax included.

Never seen an ad in my child's fire tablet. At least when she's on her profile.
