i like my kindle paperwhite (7th Gen) -- i feel it is worth more than $25 to me

but the 25% off is tempting

the trade-in features an option where i can choose to have the old device returned to me for free if they find the device conditon to be less than worth $25 value

what happens if I simply never send in my old device and keep it Smilie

Do they take away the 25% discount as well?

the 25% off is particularly tempting if you are in the market for the more expensive kindles like the all new Kindle Oasis which is currently in sale for $174

I wish I could get the 25% off without parting with my paperwhite for a paltry $25

in fact I would gladly pay $25 to get yet another old paperwhite in similar condition as mine Smilie ...would be a great gift for book loving family members

I don't remember the grace period, but I believe they will charge you the difference if you don't send in a trade in after a month or so.

I had a Fire HD tablet with a broken screen that only had a $5 trade in credit. The screen still worked fine, it was just cracked. So I did the trade in and got a 25% off discount on a new Fire HD tablet, but then I just kept my old cracked one and put a glass screen protector on it. Amazon just ended up charging me the $5 back after a month and that was it. My 25% discount still stayed on the order. If that helps at all.

Will Amazon provide a return envelope or something like that?

I tried filling in all forms for trade-in & discarded at end. There was a message stating that a paid label will be sent via email. One needs to get the cover/envelope ready & then use the label sent via email.

Is there a way to place the order and get 25% off *before* sending in the old device? It looks like the trade-in device has to be received, refund issued to me and only then is the 25% discount activated. Is this the correct understanding?

I agree the trade-in values are low but I've also tried selling my like-new condition kindles on eBay and FB and it's a tough market. Aside from timing and supply/demand factors, no one seems to want to pay much for used devices. This stuff is worth more in use for the owner than it is for resale. So while the trade-in values are low, they may be higher than resale value (especially in low demand) and the discount incentive certainly makes it more valuable.

Thanks

I also see an option to "Get paid after we receive your items"

That may be simpler -- I can use this option so I do not get the $25 instantly -- so no need for Amazon to reverse this charge later if I dont send it.

In effect this works out like a 25% discount to existing kindle owners to get a kindle.
