but the 25% off is tempting
the trade-in features an option where i can choose to have the old device returned to me for free if they find the device conditon to be less than worth $25 value
what happens if I simply never send in my old device and keep it
Do they take away the 25% discount as well?
Peanuts, 7th gen only 15$
I wish I could get the 25% off without parting with my paperwhite for a paltry $25
in fact I would gladly pay $25 to get yet another old paperwhite in similar condition as mine

I don't remember the grace period, but I believe they will charge you the difference if you don't send in a trade in after a month or so.

I had a Fire HD tablet with a broken screen that only had a $5 trade in credit. The screen still worked fine, it was just cracked. So I did the trade in and got a 25% off discount on a new Fire HD tablet, but then I just kept my old cracked one and put a glass screen protector on it. Amazon just ended up charging me the $5 back after a month and that was it. My 25% discount still stayed on the order. If that helps at all.

Just so happened i bought a used old kindle $10 amazon gave me $15 then i got 25% off and they already has 25% off and got another 25% off for prime chase card. This was prime day. Maybe you can wait for that.
I also see an option to "Get paid after we receive your items"
That may be simpler -- I can use this option so I do not get the $25 instantly -- so no need for Amazon to reverse this charge later if I dont send it.
In effect this works out like a 25% discount to existing kindle owners to get a kindle.
