I have used nest for the last two years and recently switched to Ecobee 4 since it came with our new home build.

They're more or less the same from a functionality standpoint, I don't use any integrations, but there are some things I miss from the Nest. 1) the ability to run the fan on a timer. With nest I could run the fan for 15, 30, 45 etc. On Ecobee its either on or off. 2) the energy usage stats. With nest you can get an idea of your daily usage right in the app. Ecobee makes you log into their website which is asinine. 3) learning mode on the nest - it picks up on your acticty and can create a schedule for you.

That being said, Ecobee is rolling out a large update with eco+ mode. It will address the 3rd point but not the other two. If I were to recommend one or the other, I would say Nest. Buying one for my brother
I installed ecobee 4 last week and it does have option for fan to run minimum time while in Auto from 5 min to 55 min

Do you also need nest temperature sensors with the thermostat if you have a multi story house? I got a thermostat yesterday with 2 Sensors for 179, so wondering if sensors are really required?

If you are a UGI Utility costumer they have it for $ 80 bucks which beats this price.

Sensors can be useful even on the same level. Really depends on where the thermostat in your house is located. For example, in my house, the thermostat is in a big family room which takes time to warm. My master bedroom gets really hot because the thermostat is on trying to warm the family room. By placing the sensor in my room, I can regulate temperature based on temp in that room

$75 rebate from LADWP, brings it down to about $80 total with tax 🙌🏼

But I can't checkout on Costco's site, so it may be useless lol

Nest is good if you don't have C-wire but it's doesn't work with smartthings. There are also some issues with the power stealing with Nest if you install it without C-wire.

I have two Ecobees and I like them a lot because I can control them via smart things.
Did you mean to say "Nest is useless if you don't have c wire?" Cuz that what stop me from getting it...

Just bought yesterday from Target for $184 after tax. Will they match the costco price?
