Both are great, ~95% the same "fun" either way, as long as your IPD fits it. Overall depends on what's important to you (tracking, upgrade, game compatibility, cost now, cost later, etc...)

Agreed with the post above. Depends on what you're looking for. The Rift S is strictly for PC VR gaming.

I want a good PC gaming experience. Vive is just way too expensive for me. I was thinking the Samsung cause price is important but if the Oculus is really worth the extra $120 then maybe.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Rift. Easy setup and a quality VR experience option similar to the Vive that's not quite as expensive. I have a few friends that have the 1st Gen Rift and they love it. Mine will arrive on the 1st and cannot wait. I've had it bookmarked for a while so I could get it while it's on sale.

there are many bad reviews about this product online from connectivity issues to unreliable screens across many users

Newegg has this price also, but knowing slickdeals and their commission structure this will likely be promoted to front page to extract maximum affiliate revenue from amazon sales

I wish I could try these things out in real life first to decide. Does like Best Buy or anywhere have demos on display? I have not been in an actual store for so long I do not know. I would love it if I could actually try an Oculus, Samsung and even a Playstation VR and VIVE all out and see the differences.

I would look for VR experience places in your area to see if they have any of those setup

Most best Buy's I've seen have VR endcaps with the ability to try them out.

I owned a Vive for a few years and now have a Rift S and I honestly prefer the Rift. The screen, controllers and comfort are way better and the convenience of not having to mount sensors more than makes up for any differences in tracking for me.

The Rift S is the best PCVR experience for the money, in my opinion.

Not even comparable. Rift S can be used with many other applications like Twinmotion and other engineering and architectural software. Someone correct me if I'm wrong
