The major difference seems to be that the new panel has better color accuracy. Also it is native 120Hz. 3418 is native 100, overclocked to 120.
For anyone wondering if this is worth the price, yes it is. I have a different brand but also IPS Gsync 100Hz+. I've had TN and QHD panels and the colors on the IPS are just more... vibrant and accurate. The contrast is better too. I would have to spend hours configuring the TN and QHD Nvidia settings to get the colors where I wanted them. With the IPS panel I didn't need to mess around with the display settings at all.

Lowest price on this monitor yet. Its an upgrade to the Dell AW3418DW.

In before 1 million thumbs down for no price in title, and no link.

Looking at the differences between the two monitors (the older AW3418DW that can be had for $600 on a recent SlickDeal), it does not seem to be worth the extra money. Could someone explain?

Bought a aw3418 for 649 from Newegg unopened. Think it's worth it to return and get this for 200 more?

I don't think you should do it I have the older model and it is great besides it being a ultra wide monitor and having to do MacGyver like tactics to get games to function properly

your mistake was buying it from newegg. Returning that is gonna cost you an arm and a leg because newegg only does free returns for replacements.

You'd be hard pressed to see any difference, you're also gambling getting one with backlight issues. I had to go through 3 before I got one with acceptable backlight

I also have no issues with this monitor and I have no reason to doubt it's quality but all of the six reviews are from people who got it for free so I would take the amazon reviews for this right now with a grain of salt.

This and the new model has 2ms vs 4ms response time. The color accuracy was huge for me!! I had the 18 and returned it within a few days. I picked up the new model in early November for the same price with the 10% off dell coupon and the color vs my old Asus/omen monitor made it a keeper. I do have a little backlight bleed, and am debating chancing an exchange with Dell.
