That's only for the U-series CPUs.

Please tell me how buying a $500 laptop that's half of the speed of current gen laptops ever makes sense, even if it's a Thinkpad T series. I'm a big thinkpad fan too, but it's just time to move on from 6th gen processors.

These are business laptops. They are designed for using Microsoft office and some web browsing and basic stuff. Durability, keyboard quality, and pointing device quality probably most important. Once you're used to a ThinkPad trackpoint as your primary pointing device it is very hard to change to anything else. Many might not notice it but the ThinkPad keyboards have just the right amount of pressure, a good amount of travel and proper key curve to make using one of these things 4 hours a better experience. I have a t460s and for office stuff it's speed is fine. I am sure I am only using a fraction of the CPU. Users of business apps I'm more likely to notice the hard drive speed. The biggest issue with this series is that the full HD IPS displays are not very bright.
Personally I would rather not have the fastest CPU on the planet in my laptop in order to save battery life. I also find it annoying when the fan keeps coming on.
Anyone who knows the business laptop market will realize that this is a good deal.

Previous FP deal still active. $450 for 10th gen Core i7 1065G7 processor with faster ram etc. Probably almost 3x as fast overall.
Many deals like this if you scroll the forums. I just wouldn't pay $500 for a 6th gen i5 no matter how premium it is.
