For anyone interested in information from the Manufacturer, they've responded to some people's Home Depot ratings with this information:"Please refer to the ice retention chart on the main product page of our item or listed under the info and guides section as a product brochure. As you can see, the type of ice you use and the temperature outside can change the ice retention time. For best results, we recommend using block ice and keeping the cooler out of direct sunlight."
You can also get dry ice from many Walmart locations. Call ahead to verify.

From what I have read, the trick with these coolers -- if you want the ice to last a long time -- is to pre-chill them the night before (using some milk jugs of frozen water) prior to loading them up for deployment.

The nice thing about these kinds of coolers is the extra durability and consistent temps inside. Warm drinks suck, and I want the ice to last my whole camping trip in the summer. I want to be able to stand on my cooler if needed and also not worry about handles, hinges and latches breaking off when in the bed of my truck or when my drunk buddy drops it. That's what makes these better than Coleman and similar. Not everyone needs or wants that.
a regular cooler gives you a bigger internal size compared to the same external size, allowing more ice. if you are putting something in there that you arent going to touch till the 2nd or 3rd day of your trip so you can leave it closed, fine. but if you are opening it to grab a beverage every 30 minutes, the advantage of these is gone. even pulling food out of it every 4 or so hours will net you little enough increased cooling that the extra money isnt worth it.

Went to get 1 for myself but they had at least 20. A lady came up and said if you sign up for a credit card you get 50 off. So netted 5 coolers for 149.75 plus tax. My employees will be happy this Christmas! Thanks slick deals!
This should make for a good beach beverage cooler
