That is very much not accurate.

Been to 16 countries on 4 continents -- Americans are just fine around the world.
Emirates coach carry-on baggage is limited and the worst among most international travel - a small bag OR laptop (only 1 carry-on at 15lbs/7kgs) and they will charge ($200?!) if you have a carry-on AND laptop. New policy from Feb 2019.

Plan accordingly and have most of your baggage checked-in as laptop cannot be checked-in.

Glad you discovered this deal. I was wondering it's bout time, Emirates these promotional fares twice a year and if I am not mistaken, there are a few other destinations on promotion too.

I don't really care for it but it's a relatively short train ride to other more interesting places for tourists Wink Spring in Italy is great!

End of April-May is great for the southern parts of Italy. The northern areas are still a bit cold and wet. Visit Rome, Tuscany area, and Amalfi Coast and you'll have good weather with few crowds (major attractions such as Vatican City and Colosseum tours still should be booked in advance). We went end of April this year to Rome and Amalfi Coast (stay in Positano or Praiano - thank me later) and it was perfect.

We stayed in Positano in May of 2012. Amazing.

Milan is way up north, the airport is literally right near Lakes Como and Maggiore. It's a great base for a roadtrip into the Alps or Dolomites, or even skiing if that's your thing. Alternatively you can get to Genoa, Venice, or Florence in under 2 hours by train. A little longer Rome, but in Italy it's hard to go wrong almost anywhere. Even Milan is worth a couple days walking around. I'd gladly base there and just do daytrips from there to broaden the experience and be able to skip the "nomadic hotels" part of travel.
