Personally, I just call these things "ugly sweaters," not because I have an aversion to calling them Christmas or even holiday sweaters, but because, in my own limited experience, people only wear them for ugly sweater contests at...holiday (or Christmas) parties.

On a serious note, I'd love for someone to help me understand the aversion to saying Christmas. I totally get why companies say 'happy holidays,' because you want to include the other holidays- Hanukah, Thanksgiving, etc- and why they say holiday gifts. What I can't get is why they try to avoid Christmas when there's no logical way around it. There is no Holiday Tree. It's not an ugly holiday sweater party. There are no holiday cookies. I wouldn't expect to buy a holiday dreidel. I honestly would love to hear some ideas.
