EDIT information from Better.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I work with Better, com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.
2) The offer is only available to those borrowers who have been marketed to directly by American Express, and those who have not received the offer on their Amex portal or via email are not eligible.

Have you bothered to read this thread at all? This scenario has been mentioned multiple times. Sorry to be mean but dig in a little before you ask repetitive questions. K? Does us all good!
You're right, my bad. I'll see if I can add those notes to the wiki, so that they're easy to find.

I can confirm that the credit is one per property AND also one per eligible card. You cannot use the same card on 2 properties and get the credit twice.
The credit does take while to post. I have seen that it posts somewhere towards the end of week 3 or week 4 AFTER you fund (but with a transaction date one week backdated), so that it appears as if the credit actually posted 2 weeks AFTER closing. And I have had no trouble having Amex issue me a check for that amount.
I am on my round 2. curious to know where did you confirm this? I am planning to use different credit card but same property

I'm curious about this too. We're closing soon on our refi. If rates keep dropping, I might want to do it again before July. So you're saying that if I have another unbranded Amex, i can get another 2,500 refund?

I used Better to refinance from 5.125% to a lower rate. I ended up paying about $450 in closing costs and got the $2500 AMEX credit. Closed about 4 weeks ago, and the credit just came in yesterday. youtu.be/C7PLwtaBwu8

Lenders know that borrowers would shop to get a better rate. Generally, multiple credit checks during a certain time (few days) won't affect your score significantly.

This is incorrect. You can get multiple credits on the same card for different loans.

I was getting almost 5% two weeks ago. I price matched it once to amerisave for 15 yr $3500 3.375, and better beat it by $1000. So I locked into 15yr $2500 3.375. A couple days later quicken loan (my current mortgage lender) received a notice that I wanted to refinance and gave me a new offer of 30 yr $2500 3.375. I sent that over to better and they were able to match it (not beat because I had already locked in my rate)

At the end there what did they match since it was the same numbers you had already locked at?

Question for those who are closing during the pandemic. How did you arrange the meeting with the notary? Did they allow to do it remotely? I don't want a stranger in my house. Advice?
I just completed my closing and below what I followed..
  • Before closing, I've told the notary that I would complete paperwork in my backyard.
  • I've sent all the copies of ID proofs in advance.
  • The notary came well prepared wearing face mask and gloves so that gave me more comfort.
  • I set up a costco table in backyard.
  • Used my own pen and wore gloves. I didn't have face mask.
  • signing completed within 30 mins. The notary told me sending copies of id cards helped him to pre-fill some docs so it completed sooner.
  • I wiped everything afterwards

I used the suggestions given from fellow Slickdealers. The notary texted me a day with reminder or time and day she will arrive. I texted back and told her that I would like to sign paper work outside in my yard. She texted back that that would be great.

On the day of signing:
I set up folding table and two chairs trying to follow distancing guidelines. I wore a mask and used my own pen.

Notary arrived wearing a mask and gloves. She mentioned to me that she wished everyone had the set up like I had outside.

All in all, signing took about 30 minutes.

I hope you guys are using a refinance calculator like https://www.creditkarma.com/mortg...calculator to make sure there are enough savings over the loan period to justify a refinance.

I price matched after I locked in to a better deal. Before the price match, my locked in rate was the same and never changed.
