EDIT information from Better.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I work with Better, com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.
2) The offer is only available to those borrowers who have been marketed to directly by American Express, and those who have not received the offer on their Amex portal or via email are not eligible.

The better loan estimate has an item 'Title-Endorsements' right now. I didn't see this item in my previous saved loan estimate back in March!

The Title-Endorsements is quote $150 in section C.

How do i go about shopping for title services? Better is currently quoting me 1090 for those services but am thinking ill save a bit if i shop around. Never done it before tho.
Just Google title companies in your area. As someone else stated some fees are the same regardless of where you go. For example in my state, lender's title and recording fees are always the same. However, companies choose the agent fee and can charge more than the standard on endorsements. For example, here the endorsements start at $25. I had 3 companies charge $25, $35, and $50 respectively. Some will try to beat others too so will price match the agent settlement fee.

They may not have known all the endorsements at the time. I know that for me, I have to add an additional endorsement because my community has an HOA.

Sorry, I have not been following closely. I refinanced back in the beginning of February. Are people refinancing again and receiving the same offer? Is it on the same credit card? If I can cut my rate a bit more, skip another payment, and pocket $2,500 credit, I'll gladly jump through the hoops.

Finally received $2,500 credit today. Closed 2/29. Not originally targeted but ended up getting targeted email before closing after I changed my promotional email settings with AmEx.

I posted this earlier in this thread - you can refi right now at owning.com [owning.com] for those exact terms - 2.75% with $0 closing costs for a 15 year $560k loan. I refi'ed with them in December and can vouch for them and their process - it's extremely quick and easy.

Note for anyone else reading - this is only for properties in CA.
CALIFORNIA people should definitely try http://owning.com.
I locked 30 yr @ 2.99%, and it is no closing cost like they advertise. Got a waiver for appraisal too.
The best I've seen from better.com so far for the same rate will still cost over $5000 after AMEX $2500 credit for the same rate.

Better will beat their offer by $1000, and then you get the $2500 AMEX bonus on top. I was with Owning originally, and Better met their rate, gave me $1k cash back at closing, and I got the $2.5k AMEX offer.

Hi I've read mostly through this thread but don't see this question (maybe it's stupid!) -do you think it would be possible to hurry up and get an AMEX card in order to get this deal? I would like to refinance with a lower rate.

I just spoke with owning - they're adding a point to loans under 300k so right now it's 3.99 for less than 300k. Uggh

Just finished signing the closing with notary. Did it on my backyard with all parties wearing mask and gloves.

We did a hybrid signing so most of them are om docusigns and some in person.

Took 15-20mins

Better should be able to offer that, they offered me that the first time I applied.

Are you buying points? I was nowhere close to that rate on a 15 year with 780+ credit score and more than 55% LTV.

Reading some posts, they don't always try to match and beat. In my case, 3% from better.com has closing cost of $10331 + $1360 third party fee. So to beat Owning, they need to absorb all that cost plus giving me $1000 plus AMEX credit. It will be nice to get all that, but it's a little late for me now...

Yup. In my case they didn't even meet my competing lender. However, they got close enough that I'm coming out ahead with the Amex credit and thus, moved forward with them.
