EDIT information from Better.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I work with Better, com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.
2) The offer is only available to those borrowers who have been marketed to directly by American Express, and those who have not received the offer on their Amex portal or via email are not eligible.

I'm not sure I quite follow. Instead of updating the payoff, they reduced the loan amount. So that would mean you aren't financing (part of) the closing costs. So unless you wanted to finance the closing costs, reducing the loan amount sounds correct to me.

In my case, my May payment reduced the payoff about $200 and they reduced the loan amount accordingly.

Either way, I hope you hear from them soon!

Not quite. Instead of decreasing the payoff amount, they increased the loan amount.
Example: Previous payoff amount: $505k, Loan Requested: $475k.
I paid $25k so new balance is $475k + interest
They changed: Previous payoff amount: $505k, Loan Requested: $480k

Ahh. That makes a big difference. I see I assumed, incorrectly, that the loan amount decreased. Yes, I would definitely reach out to get that fixed.

For those wondering, I closed on a refinance at the end of January. They said I would be eligible for the $2500 credit if I were to refinance again.

Thanks. I did and they fixed it back to the original info. (Payoff $505k). When I asked why was it changed? I was told that it was due to the payoff. I haven't heard anything else in over 24 hours nor has the LE payoff been decreased.

Check the overview page Closing Costs tab. Do those numbers match what is on your LE when you pull it up? I noticed that when my initial closing disclosures were being prepared, that my Closing Costs number updated, but my LE doesn't. When my ICD finally came out, it matched what was on the tab and my LE was never updated.

Needs to be done before the funding date.

In order to get the $1,000 match guarantee through Better, do I have to submit a complete application on Better?

I believe so. Otherwise, they don't have anything to compare to. Note that you don't do a hard pull until after you rate lock with Better.

In my case, the Closing Expert was the one that added it to my task list, and he wasn't involved until after the processing expert was finished.

Anyone have any suggestions on where to get a competing offer from for a 20 year loan in FL?

Sofi has good rates but they don't offer 20 year loans (say they will in about a month or so).

I've tried Loan Depot, Sebonic (decent but not the best), Amerisave, Costco (referred to Mutual of Ohama which did a bait/switch with the rates - don't deal with Luis Lowe).

Thanks

Closed on my loan April 9th and received my credit today, back dated to April 20th for some reason. I just paid off my card Monday so almost the entirety of the credit is sitting as a negative balance right now. Anybody know if I can go to an atm and cash advance that money out?
