EDIT information from Better.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I work with Better, com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.
2) The offer is only available to those borrowers who have been marketed to directly by American Express, and those who have not received the offer on their Amex portal or via email are not eligible.

I'm now in the closing phase with Better. No dates set yet but they've transitioned me from processing to closing. So far the process has been very smooth and easy. I am locked in at 3.375% 30YR jumbo in CA. Latest loan estimate shows like $2200 back to me at closing. Then there's the $2500 AMEX credit. I initially used Owning to have Better match the LE. Owning just called me today and said they've now lowered their rates to 3.125% no costs and asked for Better's LE for them to beat it at 3.125% or 3.375% if I want to keep that rate. I guess I'm going to have to wait for them to get me new estimates and see if Better will beat it again. Hate to go through all this back and forth if Better won't match especially since I've already gone so far with them. If Better won't match since I've locked, seems like it would make sense to take the lower rate with no costs in the long run vs the $2500 AMEX credit now.
How about just finish you current refinance and maybe refinance again after a month? I know you can still get the AMEX credit based on what others said here.

I have same situations at you at my closing ... The rates went down since i locked rate but Better.com told me they cant match anymore. So I just move on and hell with it.

I don't know about you guys but even though better.com make the refinance process easy. This refinance/home loan is the most tedious process I been to. I'm not doing this again just to get $2500 AMEX deal unless my new interest rates really goes down by 1 whole point. We are dealing alot of big money here and bunch of paper works that for me a couple thousands are not worth it.

I must be lucky. I got the credit back the same week as the closing.
Am I understanding that right? Amex credited your account $2,500 the same week as closing?!?

This is an absolute screaming deal if you match. I for example am getting 2.875% 30 yr fixed with a $1600 lender credit. And 0 fees in A (of loan est). And appraisal waived. And with a $2500 Amex credit.

I am getting paid to refinance.

With my lock at the rate table, I could be getting 2.625% with about a $2500 credit. 2.500% with about a $700 credit. 15 yr. Plus the Amex credit. But my ltv is low Eg around 50%. And I matched a rate.

I used a local broker in Cary NC (Live in NC). Believe they're only registered in NC.

If you really want a tip on how to get this - find a broker who loans through UWM. (Google them)

Maybe somebody has the latest confirmed information. If you use this deal and closed through better.com, can you refinance again with them and use the exact same Amex card and get the credit again?

I finally bit the bullet and started the process. Started with Better.com and then Lenderfi who is offering 2.875% for a 20 year with a $797 lender credit so i sent that over to Better tonight. I am still waiting for Sofi to issue me the LE.

I had provided a detailed loan estimate from a website to Better to confirm they would be able to beat it.m it included my credit score range, and breakdown of all the costs. 30yr 3.0% 0pts and $1200 credit (origination fee is $950 + $1k tile / settlement ) no escrow for taxes and insurance.

Better's loan broker's "assistant" said yes, they would beat it by $1K or more, but need to get an loan estimate for which I would need to apply. I did the application, and submitted the loan estimate and was then told by the broker they would not be able to match it. . I had not locked the loan as I was expecting the match. Was told to submit the locked rate for the $1K guarantee after I closed.
Locked today for 30 yr, 3.0 $1400 credit today. Submitted today's loan estimate.

Do not know why Better is offering 3.0, 0pts price match or better for some, and I was not able to get it. Would have been sweet with the American Express deal.

Shop around locally using the #s from Better.com estimate. I got one to beat it by about $1k. Better.com also decided to waive requirement for appraisal for my house just to speed things up as I bought it 2yrs ago and got appraisal from it. So if all goes well, I guess I'd make about $1100 in amex credit.

NOTE: The statement credit will be applied 8-12 weeks after your mortgage closes.
