EDIT information from Better.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I work with Better, com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.
2) The offer is only available to those borrowers who have been marketed to directly by American Express, and those who have not received the offer on their Amex portal or via email are not eligible.

Yes, I called them and specifically asked that and they said yes.
Just to clarify, are you refinancing the same mortgage you got from them before/earlier this year? Or is this a mortgage on a different property?

If the former, are they being competitive with other lender offers like they were the first time around?

The same property. I just started a new application in hopes that they will offer either a better rate than I currently have by themselves or match somebody. No guarantee I will go all the way with second refinance with them. But I know I can get the Amex offer if it happens.

Also, chatted with the LenderFi person. Wow, of course I got connected with an aggro jerk. I asked for the loan estimate to discuss it with my wife and he kept saying he's too busy and doesn't want to waste his time, and I should just write down the details he'd give me instead of needing an estimate.

The LenderFi agent refusing to provide a Loan Estimate to cyno as required by loan for all loan applications is shady. it means they classified you as getting a rate quote, but not submitting an application. LenderFi was not competitive for me (they wanted $6.5k in closing costs for a rate Better offered to do at $1,500 in closing costs), but if they were, such an action would have made me walk. There are other lenders out there.

I have the same problem with LenderFi, they pulled my credit and gave me the approval letter and when I asked for the LE, the agent called me and gave me a verbal quote. He says for LE, I have to pay $500 for the home appraisal and then they will process the loan and will give me the LE. Is this normal with LenderFi?
Same story of application submitted and refusal to provide LE at LenderFi. Something seems to have changed at LenderFi or multiple people here are getting assigned to the same bad actor.

Congrats! You have a nice deal (3% for 30 years with $3k lender credit). Do you mind providing the lender's name (that you submitted to Better)? How much was the orig fee?

I have an offer for 3% (30 year fixed) with about $1000 lender credit. Lender orig fee is about $1400.

I emailed this offer to Better and they matched the rate to 3% and provided about $500 lender credit. Better has no orig fee.
Where did you get the offer you sent to Better?

I just say I'm driving and I don't have anything to write with or I need the Loan Estimate to sit down with the wife to review since she won't believe what I tell her and I can't do it until later because they are at work.

Just give them a reason to send it to you. Never had an issue with them not sending or just giving verbal numbers.

For those that applied again, did you go with your original person or did you sign up with better.com/amex again? Thanks!
I am currently in process with 2 loans (primary and a rental) with Better (both priced in with a match from other LEs). The loan processor and loan officer confirmed that both qualify for the Amex $2,500! I didn't have to sign up through the link again. Tey said as long as your account is tied to the Amex deal all loans qualified. Each loan carries the promo. It's not tied the one card.

I actually said that, that I'd love the numbers in front of me. He said for me to just write them down and show her, and then said he was too busy to waste his time on this if I'm not serious.

I'm sure he'd have some excuse. That's their method of selling, similar to car dealership salesmen...hype up the item their selling, and make you feel like shit if you don't buy it...mainly by trying to attack your masculinity/femininity. It's an outdated method because typically 20-30 year olds are pretty comfortable with themselves and see an aggressive maneuver as being, well, aggressive, unlike boomers.

I've been reading that lenders are inundated with applications right now and if you're kind of hesitant, they will likely move on to a more thirsty applicant.

Which is sad as some of credit unions will generate it automatically like Better does, with no work needed by the loan officer. But no, they want to drive the hard sale and thus, waste more rep's time.

The more I hear about LenderFi, the more I think I wouldn't close with them even if they had the better offer. I get a company not being all that proactive and helpful (Better), but downright hostile is different.

This was comparable to my request and I still hit a wall. Hence why I say something seems to have changed in policy the past day or two at LenderFi since I can count at least 3 people having the same trouble in that time frame getting a document that should be a very common and reasonable request. Or it could be one bad apple there. If you are assigned to someone with initials AA, good luck unfortunately.

I suggested the same lender for my friend and he got the best rate today, so he locked in the rate. Interestingly it was the same LO for both of us.

Yes, I personally was able to match another rate AFTER locking the rate, but no extra $1000. This was for an investment property in WA. Also, beat by $1000 is only if the loan amount is < $500k, irrespective of before or after the rate lock
Do you mind sharing the lender name for the investment property refinance offer? Thanks.

I can definitely see that something has changed at LenderFi. I wrote back to the agent that I worked with before totally by email to see if their rates were lower. He refused to give me any numbers at all via email. Just kept saying "call me" even a day after I called him. He emailed me that rates were lower today and when I asked for rates, he said call me. He already knows that I price-matched to Better before and probably thinks I'm going to use a LE to price match again.

You legit need to operate as the mortgage broker with Better. Call every day for status updates. Don't email since they always ignore those. That's the savings, normally you have a mortgage broker to takes a %, in saving that and in saving anything else. You are now that person.
Thanks again for this advice. I called yesterday and as usual my loan agent "was unavailable." I left a message and they emailed back about 4 pm EST. Below is our email chain:

Them: "Thanks for reaching out. Our show that we are still waiting on a completed appraisal from the appraiser."
Me: "Well the website shows that you received the completed appraisal a week ago."
Also Me after calling the appraiser: "The appraiser said that they sent the completed report on XX at XX time (1 week ago) and resent it two days later at XX time." (Yep they gave me actuals.)
Them 2 hours later: "Your appraisal has been completed!"
