EDIT information from Better.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I work with Better, com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.
2) The offer is only available to those borrowers who have been marketed to directly by American Express, and those who have not received the offer on their Amex portal or via email are not eligible.

As long as you go through the "Get Offer" link, your better.com account should be eligible, as long as you have a personal amex card.
When in the process do they ask you to link the Amex card? I applied through the link but don't see anything about Amex $2,500 credit so far.

Basically once you have finalized everything, there will be a task for entering your Amex info.

Did your loan amount on your initial LE match the loan amount that you ended up with? Interesting enough, when they changed my loan amount to $30-40k less than I asked for, they did not change the loan credit. Actually it went down $1 but that's not a big deal.
No it went lower .... not that much difference though. It's like a couple thousand. It wen't lower because I decided to payoff some of it to go down to 80% ltv

I just got overpayment check from previous lender because Better.com overpaid my loan amount. Tsk tsk

In the end, I refinance it with zero costs with a little bit of extra once I receive my AMEX credit(hopefully)

Based on the Zillow Quote, for loans up to $765,000, for 30 yrs fixed, I see the rate and APR is 2.875% with "Guaranteed Rate". That seems like a great rate if anyone wants to refinance under those conditions and there are no hidden fees.

Anyone know if the $2500 credit considered taxable income where we have to pay tax later on?

I don't know if it's actually taxable, but I did read a post from someone saying that we will not be getting 1099 forms reflecting the income.

Found the answer:

"The statement credit will be applied 8-12 weeks after your mortgage closes. The value of the statement credit may be taxable income to you, and you are responsible for any federal, state or other taxes resulting from the credit. Consult your tax advisor if you have any questions about the tax treatment of your statement credit. "

15 Year Fixed Rates have come down to 2.55, Does Better decrease their rates? I am locked in at 2.75%. I am almost close to closing, closing expert is added to my tasks.
How do you check better's personalized rate after locking? I am having a hard time with that. The generic rate check from better is way off.

You cannot after locking. You can have your loan officer email you screenshots of your rate table.

Note that when you lock, you are locking the entire rate table available to you at that time, for any loan program. So unless Better has made an adjustment for you specifically after locking, this will simply be the same info as right before you locked your rate.

Yeah I am on the same page. That's why I am wondering how nawin49 checks updated rates after locking.

In my case, I used their custom rate tool to track things. But that's only tracking how the general market is moving. Your rate doesn't change either way.

Hi I had a loan rate locked a couple weeks ago with Better and thought was the world's dumbest person due to finding out about this Amex deal after applying/locking. After assuming cant do anything about it as never used the Amex offer link found out due to a post today on BH of someone having success with applying for a new Amex card just a day before closing and having it successfully applied.

I didnt need to apply for a new card as have a Amex Blue Cash card from many years ago and was able to get the representative to associate the offer today and will credit the appraisal fee I already paid at closing. Very grateful for all the helpful information have read on this thread and also BH due to which can now have extra $3k in my pocket!
