EDIT information from Better.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I work with Better, com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.
2) The offer is only available to those borrowers who have been marketed to directly by American Express, and those who have not received the offer on their Amex portal or via email are not eligible.

I am closing next week with Better in OC CA at 2.75 30 year with 2,996 in lenders credit. Loan is $510k.
Who did you get the rate from for better to match it? I'm assuming better wouldn't have offered that without matching.

I think it is possible. I see some older discussion supporting that. My mortgage expert first said that it is not possible for the same property. Later he concluded that he is not sure and it probably is possible. Either way I am going forward because of the lower interest rate.

Did anyone pay the appraisal fee, but then get an appraisal waiver and get a refund since an appraisal was not needed? If so, how long did it take for you to get the refund? I received a task on 5/12 that said I'd get an appraisal refund within a few business days and its been 3 weeks now. I asked my closing expert and she said it should arrive within 7 to 10 business days after my loan funds and its been 2 weeks since then with no refund.

Nothing close (2.75% for 30 Year) to what CA people seem to be getting. I locked with Better 3.25% for 30Y
I locked at 3.25% too. But I had to subordinate a 2nd lien (home improvement loan). Still no cost + lowers my mortgage a half pt.

I created an account with Better and applied for a refinance of my primary residence using AMEX link. The LE did not have an appraisal fee. I also received an email from Better confirming the AMEX deal.

I enquired about the possiblilty of adding a second property (invesment) to the existing account. The loan officer said that AMEX promo will apply to the second property also. Hence, I added my second property. However, the LE showed an appraisal fee. The second loan officer said that I need to pay for an appraisal and will get refund later, else I need to create a separate account for my second property. The second loan officer said that I will get $2500 credit in either case.

I decided to create a second account and LE did not show an appraisal fee.

Can you please share when you got the LE from Owning? Was the rate on their site same as the 2.75 rate that was on LE?

I have been talking to Owning and first got 3.125 with $3500 in points as the LTV was 77%. Then they got exception to remove the points and offered 3.125 with no points.

I'm gonna be closing with Better shortly. $342K loan, 2.875% 30 yr fixed with a $1500 credit. Appraisal waived. PLUS $2500 AMEX credit. Insane. NC.
