EDIT information from Better.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I work with Better, com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.
2) The offer is only available to those borrowers who have been marketed to directly by American Express, and those who have not received the offer on their Amex portal or via email are not eligible.

They should still be giving $1000 once you close with the other company as is their policy
Can you explain how this works?

getting ready to start the process on this. I don't currently have an Amex card. I'm planning on :

1. Applying for the Amex Blue Cash Everyday Card (no annual fee) today
2. Applying for a refi with better.com tomorrow
3. Getting several loan estimates to have better.com match.

Anything wrong with that plan? Has anybody else applied for an Amex card just for this offer?

I've got a 15 year fixed at 2.375% quote already I plan to have better.com match.

As long as you get your AMEX account number, chat with AMEX to ensure you qualify for that offer. I personally didn't, but I know of a couple users who did apply for AMEX just for this offer...

I tried to refinance again on the same primary residence and it's not letting me get past the "funded" message. Anyone know a way?

Negative here. Bugged them like 6 times to give me the 1k check. No movement and this was like 3 months ago. Not going to name call but they have been far from truthful with me.

That is my guess as well. Just based on my interactions with them about the guarantee my guess is they will find a reason to not ever pay it.

I could get a 2.875% with Lenderfi ($250 in pts) but the 3.25% with $1717 credit + $2500 amex promo has yet to be beaten unfortunately. You can only price match 3 times with them and I did it too quickly. So I am probably gonna just follow through with Better.

Yes - I locked my rate in and was able to pricematch (which resulted in a lower rate + lower fees) AFTER I locked.

Has anyone here applied for a new AMEX JUST for this offer ? I'm just wondering before I head down this line of thinking. I don't want the card just to get rejected on g the offer down the line

You'll generally have to send in an application or two to get a loan estimate. I watch Zillow multiple times a day to see what the outlier companies will be. Find something decent, send in a few apps, and if you want to, PM each other.

I saw the 2.75% rate on AL - but what made me apply was better was the second lowest rate, so I guessed they would match. Have plenty of personal Amex cards, will pick a different one this time.
Which ones were you able to do online? I got a bunch of calls as soon as i sent my info on zillow. Hate calls

Better initial rates offered are laughable. They want $2,600 in points for a rate that is nearly .5% above market.
Mine were also crazy high, not sure why for others they were good
